This is a three part documentary premiering on AppleTV Wednesday December 6. "More than 40 years after John Lennon's death, this three-parter looks at the ex-Beatle's 1980 killing by Mark David Chapman, and the trial that never occurred after Chapman pled guilty". I'm not sure if I want to watch this or not, that murderer doesn't deserve my time, but I might feel compelled to watch.

Terribly sad, I agree it would be difficult to watch.
Have to wonder what other works Lennon would have produced, such a major talent.
He fought deportation to the UK and won his case, loved New York City, only to lose his life.

I still remember so clearly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news of his death on the tv.

It was so senseless. Chapman said he wanted to be famous and remembered for something. He needs to stay locked up.

I debated with myself whether I should watch this or not, I did. I thought it was well done, interviews with eyewitnesses, lawyers, police officers, who spoke for the first time since John Lennon was murdered. I refuse to put his killer's name in print as he has gotten more than enough notoriety.

@Jordan2
I agree. I was going to pass on this but decided to watch anyway. It was better than I expected. The memories and insights from those involved were enlightning, and emotional.

1980 was a long time ago.
Back then, I have a hazy recollection of reading an article where MDC's parents were interviewed.
It spoke to me at that time, because our family had only recently become passengers on that train of heartbreak for those families whose loved one is diagnosed with severe mental illness.
To me, MDC's parents came across as detached, outside observers when they spoke about the strange or odd behaviors of their son, both during his childhood & then as an adult.
I got the feeling that though there'd been signs, the parents were unable or incapable of comprehending them, and had no idea of their son's impending descent into mental illness.
I said a silent prayer of thanks for my own amazing parents.
I'm not one to defend the criminal/ignore the victim, but there are two tragedies here, not only one.
