It has been out for years. I own a copy on DVD from the clearance rack.
I love its opening segment - Joan totally without any makeup and looking quite wrinkled despite all the surgeries. I'm surprised she allowed that.
The bottom line of the entire doc is that she is a complete workaholic. You see this rich old woman shlepping her own wheelie suitcase through airports in the middle of the night to catch a plane and then appearing in some real dive comedy clubs. She just loves to work and work and work. She says the worst thing she can think of is a blank appointment book.
I loved this doc and the access she gave the two filmmakers (one of whom is the daughter of one of Joan's good friends, hence the intimate access).

@Pearlee This is a fantastic documentary- like you said, from the first minute on!, I also own it. Joan was robbed at the awards show that year (2010 or 2011?)! It definitely should have been nominated for best documentary.

Her line of clothing was so much nicer when she was alive...

I saw the film when it first came out at our local art theater that shows indie movies. It was so interesting that Joan showed the movie goers warts and all.
She had a work ethic that one has to see to believe. What an inspirational woman.

@Ibby114 I loved when that guy (I think her longtime manager whom she fired) said "who lives in a palace like Versailles?" referring to Joan's apartment! LOL

@Pearlee You could tell how broken up Joan was when she fired him.
Everyone ! Check out a 2018 documentary - 'Won't You Be My Neighbor?' - it's an amazing heartfelt story of Fred Rogers! I jsut saw it last weekend.

Joan in her comedy skit could be very blue. I saw her in person in the early 80's at Wolf Trap in Virginia. My husband did not want to go, but I made him. It was a sold out performance. The audience throughout the whole performance were laughing very hard. In fact the humor came very fast. I am sure I missed half the jokes due to my laughter. My husband also thought she was quite funny.
On Joan's first appearance on The Johnny Carson Show, he invited her to sit and chat. His first sentence - you are going to be a big star.
One of the people she picked on the most was Elizabeth Taylor. Larry King on his show asked Elizabeth how she felt about Joan's comedy about her. Taylor laughed and said - I love Joan. When she stops making fun of me, I know I will no longer be relevant.
If you have not seen the documentary, do not hesitate. It is enjoyable and you will appreciate Joan even more. She was a pioneer in her field.

I'm hoping to see "Won't You Be My Neighbor" sometime this week. I've read and heard it's great.
I saw Joan's documentary when it first came out, and absolutely loved it. What a work ethic and drive Joan had. I also loved how the documentary showed Joan's involvement with the organization, "God's Love We Deliver."
