Joan Bennet Kennedy

[ Edited ]

Does anyone remember her?  The first wife of the late senator Ted Kennedy,  She lived through the scandals, his drinking, womanizing, etc. She also had a drinking issue.

She passed away in her sleep at 89 years.

I didn't know she was still alive.  She led a sad life when she was with Ted Kennedy.  May she RIP.

I didn't realize, @Puzzle Piece , thanks for posting.  Always felt bad for her-- her struggles with alcohol, and the heartless way she was used.  A talented pianist with a lifelong interest in music.  Radiant, lovely.  RIP.

It seems like most of the Kennedy women, at least of that generation, put up with a lot from the men they married.

She was a true beauty.  Living in that family, especially as one married in, was definitely not easy.

I didn't realize she was still alive either.  I see that Ethel died last October.

Agree with previous posters--those women who married into the Kennedy clan put up with a lot.  I wonder if it was worth it to them.

She had a tough life.  She was so beautiful, intelligent, and talented.  Alcohol unfortunatley contributed to a lot of her problems.   RIP.

Of course we remember her.  She battled her demons and won.  Joan was way too good for Teddy.

What happened to Joanie Kennedy from BHS Class of 1973?
