I feel Mayim did an excellent job with the enunciation. She spoke clearly/distinctly. Her tone was good and I was glad she was not giddy. Very professional.

I am not sure why she mentioned her PhD. Can't remember under what context she mentioned it at the beginning. I don't recall any of the other guest hosts bringing up any degrees they may have.

@World Traveler  I agree about the PhD mention. Why? Frankly I'm tired of seeing her in that commercial where she says she doesn't just play a brainy person on TV, she really is a neuro scientist  OK she is paid to sell a product but bragging about how smart you are is off-putting as was mentioning her PhD at the show start.

Aside from that bit of bragging, I really liked her as host. She did a great job. I didn't like her messy hair and how frumpily she dresses but I could overlook that if she were host. She'd need a stylist.

@Pearlee  I don't find the reference to th Ph.D. in neuroscience as bragging or off-putting.  Earning a doctorate in the sciences is not an easy feat to accomplish.  She probably wants to inspire girls and young women to consider STEM areas and serve as a role model for those who might downplay their interests in the sciences.  Girls and women --all races and ethnicities--confront many obstacles in STEM areas of study and professions and are disproportionately absent in these fields.  She is not unlike Danica Mckeller who has a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Chicago, another meritorious achievement. She, too, writes books for the general public, especially children and teens, promoting mathematics. I have followed their academic achievements because of the fields of study they chose and the manner in which they have destroyed stereotypes of the child actor as addicts, alcoholics, underachievers, et.

Mayim was wonderful on today's Jeopardy!

What a surprise - she's my favorite so far.  Annunciates perfectly and I think her personality fits in with Jeopardy.

@Zernia Rose  I agree with you.  Also, what she says is probably scripted and the show wants her to tell personal things about herself that will help the viewers get to know her.

Re: Jeopardy with Mayim Bialik

Mayim was great! I don't consider it bragging when she mentioned her PHD. She was just telling something about herself; she didn't act like she was better than anyone else.

As far as her wardrobe, it looked fine. The show isn't about fashion, anyway, so as long as the host looks presentable everything works out.

Re: Jeopardy with Mayim Bialik

I knew she started last night but got distracted with a few other things and forgot to watch.  She is the one person I was really anticipating and knew she would do well.  I WILL be watching tonight

Thanks for this thread, I really like Mayim Bialik as an actress, but had forgotten she was going to host Jeaopardy this week, I will set up my dvr to record a few episodes to watch.

@Pearlee  I believe that she is limited in what she is allowed to wear in areas such as skirt length due to her faith, so a stylist might or might not be of much help.  She may even be pushing the limits with her hair cut being relatively short, I don't know for sure.

@CamilleP. I didn't notice her skirt length so I wasn't referencing that. FYI I am Jewish and have many relatives and friends who are Orthodox and yes, while there are some limitations on what they can wear due to their faith most don't look frumpy. By the way, Trebek was very well dressed.

Yes, she was was GREAT! I think the best yet. I vote for her as permanent host.

Another reason I think she mentions her academic background is that viewers identify and like her as scientist Amy on the Big Bang Theory.

FYI, word is that Levar Burton will also be excellent as Jeopardy host, likely the end of July.
