i went to see yesterday -  what a charmer!   first it is true Jane Austen (not like "Sanditon" which she did not finish). second it is lush and beautiful - pastels like you wouldn't believe, gorgeously decorated houses of the period, amazing landscapes.  third and perhaps most importantly, it is quirky, deliciously funny and even a bit sensuous at the end.

it is a period piece -  Jane Austen doesn't appeal to everyone.

but i enjoyed it and may go see again to pick up more details.

Looking forward to seeing this one as I love period movies.

The trailer for it is delightful.

Bill Nighy is a favorite.

ANY CHICAGOANS ON HERE??

The Chicago Shakespeare Theater at Navy Pier is doing a musical production of Emma that is really wonderful and highly recommended. Saw it Wednesday night. Think showing through mid March.

I had planned on seeing the movie, but the musical made me even more excited to be able to compare the two. I have tickets for next Thursday, when it’s more widely released.

@Alter Ego

Lucky you!  Sounds like a fun evening.

From Illiniois originally, but much further South.  Never did visit Chicago.

Enjoy the play and please post back.

A feast for the eyes and ears!  Look at the silver on that table! Cat LOL  The drapes!  The curls, the hats...

These movies must be a joy for everyone involved.  The costuming, setting, lushness of everything.  I so enjoy them.
