We liked "Shadow of a Doubt" so much we frequently look for "Uncle Charlies" when we are out. Won't say any more.
Didn't he do a film about a woman in a wheelchair?
I had read somewhere that he was a good friend of Orson Welles.

My all time favorite of his The Farmer's Daughter, Loretta Young and Ethel Barrymore. The way he was trying to impress Katy while ice skating just touched me. Such a love sick little boy in a grown man's body.

I believe the film with the woman in the wheel chair is one they're showing today, "Walk Softly Stranger". He's paired with beautiful Alida Valli, who he was so good with in "The Third Man".
He and Orson Welles sort of started out together-- Welles loved to use him in his productions, as he did in "Citizen Kane", and memorably in "The Magnificent Ambersons", among others...
He did appear in "Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte", as a corrupt family doctor who forms an alliance with Olivia de Havilland against aging, coo coo Southern belle Bette Davis. Those three must have had fun with that total camp-fest!
