I just saw that he died a few days ago. (I'm loosely interpreting this as the "Entertainment" forum.) He was a singer, but also a songwriter. Decades ago, he co-wrote songs for Linda Ronstadt and The Eagles.
But what a beautiful, melodic voice he, himself, had! I loved his 1979 top-ten hit, You're Only Lonely. I could listen to his crooning all day.
R.I.P.

I'm sorry to hear that. I loved his song "You're Only Lonely".
I first heard it playing in a drugstore I was shopping in (you know, when some stores had background music). I didn't know who it was, but I loved it so much, and eventually tracked it down. It's notable to me also as the first CD I ever bought...that time period when CDs where becoming popular, and cassette tapes were being phased out.
I didn't really investigate his other music that much, but I know he collaborated with Linda Ronstadt, and actually appeared in the movie "My Girl 2".
I just recently read online that someone had met him, as a fan, and he was incredibly rude to them, which was disappointlng. But you have to take all those fan encounter stories with a grain of salt. It could be true, or not, you never will know.

@Moonlady He sang back up along with Jackson Browne on Roy Orbison's Black and White video. Have watched this video many times with a young Bruce Springsteen, k.d. lang, Bonnie Raitt, Tom Waites, Elvis Costello and more.

He co-wrote many of the Eagles big hits such as
" Best of my Love "
Was once romantically involved with Linda Ronstadt early in her career

He was a fabulous songwriter...
He was embarking on a tour with Karla Boneff soon.
We saw him about five years ago in concert....it had been rescheduled twice for "personal reasons"....he was just terrible! He appeared out of it, maybe drunk, and made nasty political remarks! My dh wanted to leave, but I wanted to hear him sing some favs, which he did, badly!
I am sorry he passed, seemed to have some demons.

I did hear that.
He wrote some great songs.
He also played a small, but good part on the tv show Nashville..."Watty White"...an old school songwriter now producing up and coming writers in the show...and the lead character, Rayna James's mentor and friend. Yes, he was playing "himself" basically, but was very natural and good in the role.
RIP🕊️🎶

Made good music and wrote good songs. That whole country rock movement was a great place in time.
