The fingers....tough to get past that and extremely disturbing.

I have no clue how it could be nominated for "Best Picture" this year.

I loved this so much up to that point-I turned it off and haven't restarted-BUT the characters and the acting and the dialog-love so much!

In one award show, maybe golden globes, it was nominated as best comedy. I don't get that at all.

It started out really well. I could relate to both characters and their perspectives but once it got to the fingers, it stopped being believable. I can't imagine a musician doing that. Possibly mental health issues.

The acting was very good.

@Mersha I agree 100% with you.I hated this movie.I was expecting a fun comedy like In Bruges but got an extremely disturbing movie. The fingers, the animals, the neer do well,....I don't get the humor of these situations????

@Estates@azgal @buyornot

I was looking forward to this movie as my grandparents were born in Ireland.

I loved the beautiful scenery and had high hopes for this one.

The finger issue was disturbing and I can't imagine the movie as a comedy.  I saw an individual with severe mental health issues.

I came away with a very negative reaction.

@Stelladorable  Currently working my way through All Quiet on the Western Front. I backed away before Thanksgiving, you know, holiday season and all, but will go back for a little more grief soon. I'd read the book in high school and saw the TV movie with John Boy so I kind of knew what I was in for.

Two summers back I watched countless hours of documentaries and movies on World War II, Nazi/Hitler/Germany/European invasion history, et al. Pretty awful (but I loathe summer anyway so how much more unhappy-making could it be?) Taking up the first World War I thought couldn't be worse, but it was more guresome.

And you are so observant about the ominous soundtrack.

I recently watched The Menu and found it disturbing - especially the ending.  I would not recommend it.

@Stelladorable Thanks for your reviews. I'll take a pass on those movies. I had a hard enough time watching the beginning of Saving Private Ryan, which in the end turned out to be an excellent movie. Still unable to watch the landing sequence.

My husband accuses me of watching depressing mivies, but since my taste runs to the historical, there's not much out there that isn't sad. This movie is staying with me. The more I think about it, the more I understand the Best Picture nom. Though I can't imagine it will win.

@sugar plum All Quiet makes Saving Private Ryan look like Teletubbies. Honest. Horrifying to watch. Warfare was much different in WW1. They literally expended human bodies to cannon fire. Very disturbing.

Now I'm afraid to watch this. I can only guess at the "finger" thing......
