? I rented Mother and Child and need to have someone explain some things to me!

I also put this in the movie section as not sure where it will be seen. Did Samuel Jacksons character go off with the relationship he told her about but said he would drop her if she would be with him and he would care for the baby and her. Also who was Ella--was that by any chance Paul's baby that was adopted by Kerry Washington and her grandmother meets for the first time????
