I'm home a lot these days. My husband has Alzheimer's and going out is an ordeal. So, we stay home and watch TV. I've concluded that all the smutty stuff is just a cheap and easy way to garner attention. Good writing, good acting are hard. Being clever and humorous takes work. I don't care about the language per se but it it's just done to shock us old people, I'm not buying it.

I now get Amazon Prime and Netflix. There are some good series and documentaries that are interesting, educational, and engaging.I enjoy Mrs Maisel but if you don't like raw language, skip it. I don't mind it at all if it makes sense within the context of a story. I don't expect a bad guy to say "Oh sugar." On the other hand, to my mind, that commercial for a new deodorant for the nether regions is downright insulting and obscene.

I am in a similar situation..Can't afford those extra TV services...Whatever DH has on ...it's like the first time he is seeing it..

We don't watch sports...there are was too many channels that are all sports..I shouldn't have to pay for channels I don't use..Spectrum didn't buy that one!

Soon March Madness will be taking over even some of the regular channels!

@Spurt  Agree with much that you've said. Personally, I'm not interested in modern day iterations of The Dating Game, Amateur Hour or prime time contest and game shows. Historically, these types of programs were the exception, not the rule. It's all part of a dumbing down and diluting process, because these sorts of shows require nothing in the way of imagination or solid writing and require few production values. Add in the endless permutations of FBI, CSI, Law and Order and so on and also the truth you speak about today's sitcoms being largely unfunny and there you have it, network television at its most lame. And yes, of course, if you want to dump hundreds of dollars a month into supplementing antenna or cable services, there are endless options. Sadly, not all of us are willing or able to do so. Oh, and I don't enjoy watching TV on my laptop computer. No wonder I have the library on speed dial.

Yep, Im with you..........

And I'm also not a fan of watching TV on my small laptop screen or TINY phone screen....SMH....And what about those with data limits for internet service that some people imploy as way to keep the cost down....With more and more things streaming its gonna end up costing more than cable ever did...mark my words....and there will STILL "be nothing good to watch"  🙄 .... And the free atenna airwaves dont work in my area only 6 decent strong signals and 2 of the 6 are duplicate channels...I have been taking advantage of coupons and special sales from local and online bookstores

I'm 54.

I never thought that I would hate 99% of TV, but I do. If it weren't for my husband liking TV, I would not even have service.

Everything offends me. The crude language & situations, lack of morality, juvenile humor, overt s***xuality pervasive throughout even commercials.

I am sitting here trying to enjoy a couple hours companionship with my husband. A commercial aired with an orchestra and singer playing a song that I thought I could enjoy hearing. Until I heard the words.
The words were porno*fic.
Then at the end of this, it shows the South Park characters.
I'm sitting in a stupor of disbelief that this was aired.
I can't unhear it.
I'm just so tired of TV. And every program glorifies death and utter hopelessness.

@Midmod

You must have never watched "Young Sheldon."  Makes me laugh out loud at least once in every episode.  No "death and utter hopelessness."

I discovered a cute show called, B Positive.  It has Linda Lavin in it.  Funny sitcom for 30 min about a young girl that inherited a million dollars or so from an elder person in an senior home she worked in.  She brought a home for seniors and the story lines are cute and funny.  Jane Seymour plays a sexy senior, who has her eye on one of the guys and he doesn't know what to do.  They finally got together, and it was funny and you may have to be a senior to get it.

There are some good old actors in it, Ben Verine, spelling may not be correct, but I'm a senior and CRS.

It makes you laugh at any age.  They are in their 3rd season.  I found it from reading a comment on it in these post.

I also DVR everything, so I can FF.

Thanks for this detailed recommendation @qvcaddition .  I had no idea what this show was about and from your description, I might actually enjoy it!  Do you know if there's any way to see the first two seasons?

@Spurt  No way am I watching anything on a phone. My phone is for talk or an occasional text. Everything else can wait until I can access a computer, a tablet, a book or a television. You know, if it's electronic, something with a screen I can easily see.

I just dont get it....why did they come up with big screen TVs anyway, wasnt it to try to replicate in a bit smaller way the theater experience, and viewing a movie on a phone doesnt do it, but even commercials encourage this....I just think some have an addiction to their phone JMHO

If you have Xfinity it might be on peacock they offer the app free or Paramount + which I don't have.  Sorry.

Chick Lorrie is one of the producers.  I think it is on Thursday nights. They now have the mother in law from Mike and Mollie in the cast as Linda Lavin's sister and she is so funny. Also Hector Elizondo is in the cast.  Google will give you lot of info.

I just googled it now, and it will give you a lot of info.

I am watching season 3, so I don't think it was cancelled.

Google tells me it's on Paramount +
