Hitchcock's "Family Plot" TCM 5:45 p.m. Eastern

Hitchcock's later films generally don't intrigue quite as much as the earlier ones, for me.  But I'm glad he rounded out his career with "Family Plot", which has a light hand and even sparkles at time with comedy.

Has terrific, yeoman actors like Barbara Harris, Bruce Dern, and William Devane.  Karen Black and Devane make a stylish pair of jewel thieves, and the whole thing just lilts along.  Barbara Harris gives such a strong performance as the spacey "Madame Blanche" that it makes you wish she had done more films.  A unique talent.
