Shirley Booth was an amazing actress, in any role she took on from Hazel to the movies. She was never a Hollywood glamour girl, but she knew how to act.

I had twin aunts growing up a couple of streets away. One twin who is still alive was the glamour girl. The other twin was Hazel to a T. This show came on when I was the same age as the little boy Harold. Everyone called my aunt Hazel. She loved it. She lived with my grandparents who were kind of fancy and she waited on them hand and foot because she wanted to.

What a good idea to have a "Hazel" binge on Mother's Day.  I love what Shirley Booth did with the character of "Hazel"-- she truly was a wonderful, resourceful actress, as Shelbelle says.
