Re: Have you ever walked out of a movie?

I walked out on a play in SF with Deborah Kerr, who normally, I liked, but this was so boring.  I looked around and saw a man with his chin on his chest, sound asleep, and I began laughing, nearly choking as I was trying for the laughing not be be heard, and he wasn't the only one sleeping.

@amyb,

Around 1972 when I was first dating my husband he took me to see Gone with the Wind and it had been gone already.  So we said OK we'll see what is here now.  It was "Last Tango in Paris" with Marlon Brando.  We walked out during a sex scene with him and the lead woman.  Oh my goodness it just floored me.  We asked for a refund and they wouldn't give it to us.  I have never like Marlon Brando since.

Aw, I don't think you ought to blame poor MB.  After all, you are the one who went to see an X rated movie.  Woman Indifferent

Re: Have you ever walked out of a movie?

When I lived in England, a couple of friends and I would go see a movie about once a week and than have something to eat after.

We decided to see "Miami Rhapsody" - good cast and it was supposed to be a romantic comedy.  We hadn't been watching it for more than 10 minutes, when the plot became clear:  everyone (married) was sleeping with everyone else.  And every other word was f***.  I looked at my friends and said "If they say that one more time...do either of you want to stay here?"  They both immediately said "NO".

We weren't prudes, but it was so gratuitous.  This was a big multiplex, so I suggested we ask at the ticket window, if we could just go into a different movie and the lady said "Sure!"  I can't remember what we saw, but we enjoyed it and stayed to the end.

As for "2001:  A Space Odyssey", I've tried to watch that at least 3 times, since people rave about it, and it just puts me to sleep every time.

Re: Have you ever walked out of a movie?

[ Edited ]

Yes, I have walked out of a movie before and this practise started when I was very young in elementary school because my parents wanting alone time dropped us off at some out of the way movie house on a Saturday afternoon quite some distance (I'm guessing so we couldn't walk home) and on one such occasion the movie was gory.

My brother was loving it but I got up and went to the nearest phone booth (haha I sure miss those) and told my parents that I had heaved due to the disgusting parts of the movie and that they must pick me up.  No was the answer with a resounding click in my ear that I can still remember quite well.  Woman Mad

I sat outside the theater on a bench and waited for it to end so they could come collect us.  I then had to endure the wrath of listening to my parents tell me I wasted their money because I would not sit through it.

Re: Have you ever walked out of a movie?

Does that include going out to the lobby?

Every Saturday in the Winter we'd all 5, myself, my husband and 3 daughters) go to the movies.

The rule was the daughter who had the best week got to pick the movie.

The best week was totally up to the daughter.  We often talked about our day at dinner.  But, surprisingly, the girls were very honest about their week.  They all took turns.

It had to be a PG movie.  Not a lot to choose from.  Baron Avon Muchouchin?  Something like that.  It was terrible.

Thank goodness the others have left my memory bank.

Re: Have you ever walked out of a movie?

Yes. Two. The first one was Deliverance with Burt Reynolds. Went with one of my girlfriends. We walked out in the first 15 minutes. The other was Saving Private Ryan. Same thing. Went with my husband, his daughter and her husband. I knew I was going to have to watch the whole movie with my eyes and ears covered so I left. Went outside and waited for them. And it was a long movie, lol.

Re: Have you ever walked out of a movie?

Oh yeah, there were three. Just remembered...same girlfriend and I went to see Last Tango in Paris. Yikes. We were out of there pretty fast. I never could understand what anyone saw in Marlon Brando. Not my cup of tea.
