There are many cults and cult like beliefs and actions these days, they are very dangerous too.

He can believe whatever he wants to believe, but as soon as it adversely affects other people it becomes a problem. Brooke Shields for one, and most importantly his own daughter if it's true that he hasn't seen her in so many years because she is not a Scientologist. Scientology by countless accounts is abusive towards people in general, but to do that to your own daughter is beyond comprehension.

He is a good actor and a true movie star.

"This isn't a Wednesday night, this is New Year's Eve"
