Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas Starts Oct. 31st

Although they can be a little cheesy, I like watching some of the Hallmark movies. My favorite Hallmark Christmas movie is The Christmas Box, starring Maureen O'Hara, Richard Thomas, and Annette O'Toole. I look for it to air each holiday season (It was an original Hallmark movie, but seems to air on other channels now). There's a prequel to The Christmas Box titled, Timepiece, and stars Naomi Watts, but I haven't liked it as much as I do The Christmas Box.

Synopsis for The Christmas Box:

A ski-shop owner reluctantly moves himself, his wife, and his daughter in to an estate as live-in help for an elderly widow. While struggling to balance his career and family life, he has recurring dreams about an angel.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas Starts Oct. 31st

I'm going to try to watch this year (although I really wish they didn't play 24 hours, as I like my midnight Frasier episodes.) Regarding the 1st movie - I hope she doesn't end up with the cowboy!! Why isn't the nice, practical one never the one chosen?

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas Starts Oct. 31st

They are often cheesy, aren't they? Still they're as much a part of the holidays for me as decorating the tree, egg nog and candy canes. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I have a video library containing about 98.5 percent of all the Hallmark holiday movies ever shown. After criticism in recent years concerning the noticeable lack of diversity throughout all of its programming, there's been a concerted effort toward inclusiveness in casting. It'll be interesting to see how this manifests itself this year in Hallmark's traditional holiday fare.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas Starts Oct. 31st

OK, I know all of you have heard me 'speak' about my love of all things (mostly) male oriented, i.e. Sons of Anarchy, Banshee, etc.

However, every now and then on a day like this (Saturday and rainy) I will dabble in a 'feel good' show. Hence, the Hallmark channel.

I've been watching (off and on) the Hallmark's "Signed, Sealed and Delivered" series.

I think that will do me for awhile. Right now I'm being 'challenged' by The Game Show's "The Beast".

As an old boyfriend used to say, "Variety is the spice of life Annabelle" (as I was kicking him out of my life.

Anyway, I enjoy those shows every now and then.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas Starts Oct. 31st

Can you believe it? 1,300 hours of holiday-themed movies from October 31st through January 2015!!! They're calling it MOST WONDERFUL MOVIES OF CHRISTMAS and that sounds like an understatement. There are two world premieres, including one based on the original series Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

Adding to the usual merriment this year is Christmas Classics Thursdays. Starting November 6th, Hallmark is delving into the seasonal stocking and pulling out some treasures from decades gone by, including such favorites as The Bishop's Wife; Holiday Affair and Christmas In Connecticut.

If that's not enough to get us in the holiday spirit, then nothing will.

For more information and a description of the featured classics, read Hallmark's latest press release:

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas Starts Oct. 31st

It's a little too early for me, they should be having a spooky show on the 31st!

Start Christmas shows maybe right before/after Thanksgiving!
