Yes, Notorious is excellent.

@IMW, I'm intrigued by your two favorite Hitchcocks.  I would say "Vertigo" is one of my tops too.  Let's see, "Vertigo",  "Shadow of a Doubt",  and then maybe, "Notorious".

But gosh, it's so hard to narrow them down.

My top 5 in no particular order:  Notorious, Rear Window, Psycho, Shadow of a Doubt, North by Northwest.

I am NOT a fan of Vertigo.  Too convoluted and unconvincing IMO.

Over time, I've begun to appreciate some of the lesser ones too--  "Saboteur",  "Rope",  even "Marnie" which some purists dismiss!

Still scares the daylights out of me. Only some scenes from The Birds are more frightening to me.

How about The 39 Steps? I loved that movie. Saboteur had a little 39 Steps flavor I think. Loved that one, too. And Dial M for Murder and of course Rear Window. Thanks, Alfie!

I like Vertigo but it is soooooo slow-moving (when Stewart is following her around at the beginning and she's sitting and staring at things - no action, no dialogue).  I "get it" and I like the film, but the first 1/3 of it moves very slowly.

Re: HItchcock's "Psycho" Tonight TCM 8:00 p.m. Eastern

The first time I saw Psycho, I was babysitting. I never babysat for this family before. They had a beautiful old 3 story house.

Kids were asleep, I saw Psycho was on. I thought I never saw it, I am 18 years old, Time for me to watch it. WELL, about an hour into the movie, I start to hear an occasional scratching noise. I go upstairs and check on the kids, They are still asleep. Go back to watching the movie, The noises get louder. I go to where I hear the noises and open the door - out jumps a German shepherd. OOPS! Someone forgot to tell me they had a dog.

I will never forget that and I will never watch Psycho.

Hitchcock makes cameos in all of his movies.  I enjoy trying to find him when I watch his movies.

Here he is in Psycho about six minutes into the movie....

@Oznell

I appreciate Marnie but, I have to be in the right mood to watch - i find it so disturbing.

Favourites  - difficult to narrow down.

I love “Rope”, (would have loved  to see the original play on stage)

”Strangers on a Train”, “Shadow of a Doubt”.

Both versions of “The Man Who Knew Too Much”,

“The 39 Steps”, “Rebecca”,  “Suspicion”

“Sabotage” “Saboteur”, “Foreign Correspondent”,

“Stage Fright”, “Notorious”, “Dial M for Murder” ,

”Rear Window”

-  guess I’m not narrowing at all!
