HITCHCOCK ON ANOTHER GOOD VINTAGE MOVIE CHANNEL HDNM THURSDAY

We just started getting HDNM, also known as HDNET Movies.  It's on channel 566 if you have DirecTV.  It's part of a small, extra package we got that includes Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel, and the Smithsonian channel, among a few others. (It's only about four dollars and change extra a month to get them, so, good deal!)

Back to HDNM:  Today they are sprinkling Hitchcock all through their lineup:

2:50 p.m. Eastern  "Family Plot"   Bruce Dern, Karen Black, Barbara Harris, William Devane, Cathleen Nesbitt

Sparkling Hitchcock about glamorous jewel thieves (Devane and Black), foiled by kooky couple (Harris and Dern).

7:00 p.m. Eastern  "Rear Window"   James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Thelma Ritter, Raymond Burr, Wendell Corey

We all know and love this voyeuristic mystery!

9:00 p.m. Eastern  "The Man Who Knew Too Much"  James Stewart, Doris Day, Bernard Miles, Brenda de Banzie, Daniel Gelin, Alan Mowbray, Carolyn Jones

A personal favorite of mine, love the exotic Morocco and London intrigue, and adorable Stewart and Day as a baffled but determined couple, doing everything they can to reach their son.  Doris's haunting rendition of "Que Sera, Sera"  drifting up through luxurious stairwells to an almost hopeless captive, still gives chills.

11:05 p.m.   "Vertigo"  James Stewart, Kim Novak, Barbara Bel Geddes, Tom Helmore

And capped off by what is arguably, Hitchcock's best, in this complex film about identity and romantic obsession!

This channel seems promising.

Thank you for the heads up on this Channel (and the Hitchcock movies on today). I didn't even realize this channel was part of the movies pack I already get! LOL!

Re: HITCHCOCK ON ANOTHER GOOD VINTAGE MOVIE CHANNEL HDNM THURSDAY

Thanks for pointing out this station, @Oznell

I've had it as part of my lineup for a long time, but don't check its offerings as much as I could.

It shows any number of unique films, and often highlights directors or franchises, etc. For example, on Star Trek's 50th anniversary, a number of Star Trek films were shown.

As for Hitchcock, I just caught his Saboteur (1942) with Bob Cummings.

The Statue of Liberty ending is a precursor to North by Northwest.

Hey, great, I'm glad you get the channel, @kam24 and @GingerPeach !

I really like "Saboteur",  @GingerPeach --  Bob Cummings had that perfect, earnest, all-American boyish quality for the role, and I thought he and Priscilla Lane were very good together.   Right you are about the Statue of Liberty sequence;  enjoyed a young Norman Lloyd as the 'weaselly' villain too!

An excellent line up of some of Hitchcock s best contributions to entertainment.

Does anyone happen to know what channel HDNM/HDNET is on Xfinity/Comcast?

Hi, @sophiamarie .  I'm sorry, I tried to google that, but got confusing information.  One thing seemed to imply that your local address would influence which channel HDNM showed up on, on an Xfinity/Comcast system.  I finally gave up, as could not find a definitive answer.

Hope you have better luck than I did, or maybe someone here will know the answer...

Thanks @Oznell. I´ve had this Channel forever but never used it.

Always went to 565 to watch Murder She wrote  but never saw 566.

Rear Window is one of my favorites and just saw that it comes back on at 1:20 am. I´ll be watching.

I don't think DISH has this channel, but one question:

Are there commercials interrupting the movies?
