@pdlinda I am a bit envious that you will have HBO for the next two years.  HBO is still a prime channel with some of the best series and movies.  I am sure you will enjoy it greatly.  But because I am not an HBO subscriber, I am probably not the best person to ask about the whole array of programs on HBO.  I use these free HBO periods on Xfinity to pick and choose a program to watch.  That said, like others, I very much enjoyed Mare of Easton, Sex and the City, Game of Thrones, Big Little Lies, True Detective, Veep and so on.  But these are series and as you said series don't fit into your schedule.  So, I suggest you do an internet search "best programs on HBO" and see what professional tv watchers say.  And enjoy!
