HAS ANYONE SEEN AMOURE? I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE ENDING!

I went to see Amoure yesterday. It won the academy award for foreign language film. I absolutely do not understand the ending. Has anyone else seen it? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Amour is the ultimate love story. Two people who have loved each other for a long time, and so deeply, that communication continues without speech.

Simply, the husband facilitates his wife's "freedom" from suffering because that was her wish. Imagine his suffering at losing her little by little, and all alone, save for an occasional visit from their daughter and a trapped pigeon. Somehow through desperation, weariness and most certainly love, he lets her go. The momentary violence is softened by flower petals.

A beautiful film but not easy to watch. The effort is worth it.
