Not really. He wrote about a virus that was man-made, which this is not, and that killed 100% of the people it infected within 24 hours, which this does not. His virus caused infected bodies to secrete a toxin that destroys brain function and body function. COVID-19 is a respiratory infection that can cause symptoms like a cold or, in more severe cases, like pneumonia. His virus also had an incubation period of 4 hours, not 2-14 days.

The only thing this has in common is that it's a virus from Wuhan.

@Alison Wonderland  Thank you for explaining.  I have not read the book and was curious.

Life often imitates art for a myriad of reasons. Whether this pandemic was by design, or not, remains to be seen. I'm just praying for all those affected by this epidemic.

A book that is also thought provoking for this topic is Ann Benson's The Plague Tales about the world after a devastating global pandemic. Chilling and well plotted. It's a little dull but the first few chapters are chilling.

Correct, also this from different sites:

"to the disappointment of conspiracy theorists, it turns out that in the first edition of The Eyes Of Darkness, the virus was originally called 'Gorki-400', after the Russian city where Koontz originally wrote the bioweapons lab. After the Soviet Union fell in 1991, Koontz apparently changed later editions to make China the villain."

I imagine that the infected people will be turning into zombies soon.

Stephen King strikes again. Read "The Stand" and hope he didn't get it right.

@SeaMaiden Zombies, great!  That's funny. Then we can say the writers of The Walking Dead predicted this virus. Next we'll be hearing someone's Ouija board spelled out a warningWoman Surprised

There are countless fictional accounts of devastating illnesses, killing masses. It stands to reason, authors would take liberties with the subject, since history tells us it can, and has, happened. It makes for good stories, as long as they stay in their lane as fictional.

I'm far more concerned about past contagion history.  Even with advances, history often repeats itself.
