@Graciesmom wrote:Knock yourself out @LoriLori ... I guess TM judges educational prowess via awards shows andcSeth Meyers ?? that’s the platform for judgment ... awards shows ??
@Graciesmom, not only do I have no idea what you're talking about, I don't even know what "TM" stands for in this context. And what does "educational prowess" have to do with any of it? Read my post again and please apply all of your educational prowess to it. I simply said, and I said it simply, that we should have two threads: one for those who enjoy it and one for the complainers.

I stopped watching any awards show years ago. Got so tired of all the political yammering!! There are millions of other systems of communication available for expresssion of thoughts/beliefs/views.
This show should be about congratulating the winners of the awards - period.

qvc addiction: a bit of heart break when I read your post. I sued my employer twenty three yrs ago. not sexual harrassment but for not keeping the law re disability. My attorney would not go to court because I'd become so ill even though we had rock bottom evidence. I came out O.K. but it was the loneliest time of my life. My health never really returned. I had a great therapist, rabbi and mother who supported me.
And I was very much alone. My attorney had a pro bono SH case. The woman had a major breakdown and had been hospitalized a year.
I have a friend who's brother was in business with HW's brother and then Harvey for about a year. He was pretty vicious to men, but not sexually. He truly did run Hollywood.
Mira Sorvino never told her father, who recently said he'd kill HW if he had the chance. She won an Oscar for one of her first movies and then seemed to disappear.
I think what Meryl says is true. If HW couldn't control you he left you alone.
What is going on now is truly a revolution. Women are speaking out about things that would not have been considered SH fifty, even twenty years ago. Revolutions never start smoothly. I am grateful this one has begun. There will be hits and misses but it's here to stay.

I don't want to miss that one. Ol 'Brad will be seen going out the exit LOL
Like - together? Wo!
I'll be watching. I have it scheduled and, just in case, with a large padding at the end.
I wonder if it is airing earlier in the East. That will probably create spoilers on this board, since many here don't understand that so if people don't want it to be spoiled I guess they have to stay out of the thread. Probably be a bunch more threads, though, right? heh - that's the way it rolls here.
I am on the West Coast and it starts at 5 PM and then is repeated at 8 PM.
You are so right! For some reason I didn't notice that at the time, when I scheduled the 8pm recording. I went back in yesterday, moved some shows around, and did the 5pm one. I was glad, as I started watching around 6 and was able to be finished shortly after 8, after interruptions.
It was a pretty good show. So many incredible black dresses. I love Allison Janney and her dress was very cool. 'Course, she could wear anything with that long and lean bod. Glad she won. I'm a huge fan of her.
Figured there would be all the complaints. There was nothing there said that was untrue, but then a lot of people don't really use facts a a parameter so I knew there w/b a lot of complaints.

My local noon news program (CBS affiliate) reported that last night's Golden Globe show won the ratings race in it's time period. "The Simpsons" came in second.

I'm looking forward to it. I get a great deal from entertainment. I'm rooting for "Big Little Lies," and some actors including Nicole Kidman and Kyle McLachlan.
It's a drag wading through all the 'I would never watch' and 'How dare they speak' posts. We know. You post it every time. How about letting people who enjoy it, enjoy it.. .
@LoriLori . I agree with you...while I personally don't watch the GG awards because I'm just not interested, I find all of the comments about "being lectured to" entertaining.
It's always the same bashing threads every award season. Just copy and paste.
I recorded and just watched who was winning since I'm familiar with many of the TV shows and waiting for the movies to stream. Many of the black dresses were quite striking lots of bLing.

I suppose when dissenting opinions are expressed on any topic in the forum, they could be characterized (wrongly, in my opinon) as "bashing". To me, any dissenting, or agreeing opinion, for that matter, is fine as long as there is a basic respect for other posters, and they are not maligned for their views.
