On Saturday I was watching Giada At Home Show. They showed her cat Luna at one point on the kitchen counter.  There was a bowl of grapes and a bowl of cherries that the cat kept touching. How gross!  How could you have your cat on the counter where you prepare food. So unsanitary. I would never eat food prepared by her knowing how she lets her cat go on her kitchen cabinet.

@joann1218   No worries, you won't have the chance to eat her food.  I believe the grapes can be washed before eating.  Considering what we inhale on a daily basis just breathing, this is not a big health issue.

What's gross to some, is completely appropriate to others. A cat's going to do, what a cat's going to do-explore. I think she is responsible enough to not allow her cat to make a meal out of food that will likely upset her stomach.😊

Some people allow their toddlers on the counter sometimes, and we all know they are walking petri dishes, because they put everything into their mouths.😁

@joann1218 I agree with you that it is unsanitary and disgusting to let an animal be on the kitchen counter when you cook.  And who lets their toddler crawl on the counter???

Could you pack a 'sack lunch' before visiting Giada's kitchen?  The cat had an interesting pattern in its fur.

@alicedee  I've seen people sit their toddler on the counter, not allow them to crawl on the counter.😊

I am well into my 60s, and have never placed a toddler on the counter while I was preparing  food, nor have I seen anyone else do it.  How unsafe!

It may not be a health issue, but it sure is a stomach turner.I don't eat anything from people if I know they have a cat. Cats walking on counters, tables, whereever is disgusting. Oh I know there are loads of people on here who adore cats, I'm not one of them.

I love cats....but when I had one, she was never allowed on the counter.  I always sanitize my counter before food prep is done on it.

Cats lick their nether regions....no way would I let one put it's face in food I was preparing.

Not all cats are jumpers.  My last one was not...
