I did not realize until someone just told me that was Pam Grier playing Deja's great grandmother, she did a great job

I still say they should rename it 'This is Angst'...

I got worn out with the self-absorption of all 3 siblings and their individual "internal" struggles. We all have them, I got tired of their wallowing.....quit watching last season perplexed with the extreme weight problems of Kate and her hypersensitivity to her weight. This program reminds me of "Parenting", which was similar and became a bore. Much prefer the family in "The Middle", hilarious!

ITA! I am still hanging with this series, but it has become a snooze-fest!
I wish the writers would further develop the dog's storyline (that Kate rescued from the pound). Her character could benefit emotionally if she were to get involved in a pet rescue organization and honor Jack at the same time!

So... since some of the fans are suffering angst with criticisms posted on the spoiler thread, I thought I'd contain my critical comments to this one...
It seems one of the show runners recently posted this somewhere in relation to the upcoming episode, which is ostensibly focused on Kate's wedding:
“It’s about how a family can experience an incredibly, incredibly tragic loss and still fight through it and move forward and find happiness and joy. They can remember the man they lost and still live the lives he would have wanted them to live — lives that just aren’t about grieving him.”
Oh, for heaven's sake the drama just knows no end... I'd guess most of us have lost a loved one, some tragically, though most losses are tragic... and somehow 'moved forward'... Really, what choice do we have?
While I'm not one who micro-analyzed every aspect of this show when I was watching, (because after all, it is a show...) it seems there was probably close to a twenty-five year time period between Jack's death and Kate's wedding... That's a long time, so yes, one would hope these characters would have been able to at least begin to process their grief...
Continuing to enjoy the show is one thing, I don't but many do and good for them, but these spiels put out there by the show runners really have become glaringly ludicrous to the point of being borderline offensive...

Sometimes I think I’m bored with it too, but then watch and find it to be touching and well-done.
Since watching tv is our primary shared pastime, we are probably willing to endure what others may consider boring. Perhaps some shows like this one relate somewhat to our past as a family.
The last episode about Aja was very well done IMO. I didn’t think I would like it, but I did.
To think in advance of watching preparations for Kate’s wedding is off-putting to me. We will watch and see...it is work re-living and analyzing all of their problems.

Keep your eyes on the Toby character tonight. It is being talked about that he dies.

i am not bored at all with the show, but i have stayed off of the main thread because i am about 3 episodes behind (if you include tonights episode) and have been trying to avoid spoilers. even here though there seems to be possible spoilers also.
i like a show that gives us deeper looks into characters, which a lot of ensemble casts dont seem to do so well because there are just too many characters. this show for me has the perfect number of characters......not too few, not too many......and still surprises me at times. i think there is A LOT of backstory still left to tell.
will see some of you on the MAIN thread when i am caught up.

Anyone elses nerves getting grated by Kate ?
this is a grown woman who is not even thinking about the present and her wedding. She is haunted by memories of 20 years ago. As others have stated, her marriage will not last long.

Following @stevieb's lead and posting this here. @LoriLori as you previously noted, the big spike for the SB episode (2/4) lead to a big drop two nights later on the regular Tuesday night epi (2/6). What I find most revealing is the numbers for the next two shows were even lower than the two shows before the SB.
