So obvious that Portia has messed with Heather's test results to keep her in jail. Maybe her medical license will fly away with Alexis' law license.

Fancy Meeting You Here: (from l.) Holly (Emma Samms), Sidwell (Carlo Rota), Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jason (Steve Burton) are on a collision course in Kenya.

Last week, Anna and Jason found themselves on the same flight bound for Kenya on a shared mission to track down Lucky Spencer. This week, their expedition brings them into close contact with Holly Sutton and the menacing man holding Lucky captive, Sidwell.

Hello Again

Anna and Holly are, of course, far from strangers: They first met back in 1985, when Holly was married to Robert Scorpio. Anna befriended Holly, who was in for a shock when she learned that her new pal had once been married to Robert herself! Not only that, but Anna had secretly given birth to Robert’s daughter, Robin. In 2006, after both Anna and Holly had made separate returns from the dead, they came into contact again in the Markham Islands, and it wasn’t exactly a happy reunion (Anna nabbed her for jewel theft).

For her part, Emma Samms (Holly) was thrilled when the twists and turns of her storyline brought her the opportunity to work alongside Finola Hughes (Anna). Reuniting with Hughes was ā€œfantastic,ā€ the actress enthuses. ā€œI mean, she is so gracious and so fun to work with — and so great to work with in regards to her skills and her performances. So that’s been just a complete joy for me. She’s very gracious to me and makes it very easy to do all of the complicated stuff that we’ve been doing.ā€

Jewel Tones

When their paths cross in Kenya, Anna and Holly are equally thrown by one another’s presence, and Holly has reason to worry that Anna will get in the way of her ultimate goal. Samms has a theory as to why her alter ego is once again on a diamond quest. Explains the actress, ā€œIt’s not just about making her enriched and her wanting a life of luxury. She wouldn’t complain about that, but at the moment, she’s still having to bail out her son,ā€ Ethan. ā€œI’m not sure this is even referenced in the script, but that’s certainly the backstory that I’m using,ā€ she says. ā€œShe is still very much in need of raising funds for Ethan.ā€

Samms was dazzled by what GH’s production team came up with for the upcoming scenes set in Nairobi. ā€œJust wait until you’ve seen the spectacle that they’ve made,ā€ she praises. ā€œThe set design, the lighting design, costumes — and they brought in a bunch of atmosphere players and under-fives and their players. It’s really like they’ve pulled out all the stops for this story! It was really exciting to walk onto that set for the first time and just go, ā€˜Wow, this is lush!’ Lush is definitely the word for it.ā€

In the story, Holly is on the arms of the dangerous Sidwell. Their relationship, assesses Samms, ā€œis complicated because yes, Holly is in it for the money. But I also think she is finding him to be a fun challenge, you know? She is really up against this very powerful, very smart guy, and I think she enjoys that. And I think that even if he cottons on to the fact that she’s pulling a con on him, he might still like her, but sort of regretfully. Even though Holly hates some of the things that she is having to do in order to perpetuate this con, there’s also an element between the two of them that they’re really enjoying.ā€

Dynamic Duo

Samms says that the dynamic between Anna and Holly is ā€œquite funny, because Holly is really trying to avoid her. And then Holly finds something that she can use against her, and she thinks that is going to give her the leverage for Anna to keep quiet and not blow Holly’s cover. It’s a real cat-and-mouse situation and obviously, the writers have enjoyed that very much — as did we!ā€

The actress hopes the action will be a springboard for her to share more scenes with Steve Burton (Jason), as well. ā€œEven though we’ve done things together, there hasn’t been that much interaction between Jason and Holly,ā€ she observes. ā€œHopefully that will change!ā€

Is it just me or did Martin lose his southern accent?  Is GH doing away with all accents (first Lois now Martin) or are the actors refusing to do them?

So Sam is a diver - who knew?  So she will be looking for the gun when she drowns and that's how they kill off Sam.

I thought the same thing about Martin's loss of the southern accent.  Maybe he lost it when he shaved off his facial hair?

If I recall, Sam was a sea salvage diver when she first came on the scene in Port Charles.

Agree with you both.  Martin,  grow your longer hair and beard/mustache back stat!

And quit talking like a Yankee, you sweet southern piece of hummingbird cake. šŸ˜‚

Thank you, thank you...I thought I was losing my hearing.  Seems along with being clean-shaven (I like it!!), Marty has lost his southern drawl.

Yes, Sam was a "diver" when first arriving on the scene.  Funny though, when mentioned about needing an "expert" diver to find the gun, my first thoughts went to Drew...the Navy Seal.  Of course Sam will undoubtedly find what the PCPD divers cannot.

Oh my, La De Da time in Kenya...or whatever.  Can't wait to see how Anna/Jason present themselves.  Mother/son?  A wealthy couple?  Married? Business partners? Friends on holiday?

Sidwell cleans up nicely after residing in a fortified, desolate, desert combine.

GH RECAP, SEPTEMBER 18th

At the hospital, a chipper Portia tells Liz how excited she is to have lunch with Trina later.

Despite Alexis arguing in court against it, the judge orders her to be sent to Pentonville without bail. Kristina cries out in protest, but the judge’s ruling stands. Kristina, Sam, and Molly embrace their mother before she’s taken away.

After Sonny gives Brick an order over the phone, he answers his door to Natalia, who carries in a bottle of champagne. She’s there to update him on his investment and celebrate her closing a lucrative deal. Sonny’s subdued reaction leads them to discuss Alexis’ arraignment. Natalia knows if Alexis is innocent, the authorities will figure it out and find the actual murderer.

Ric meets with Heather in Pentonville’s visitors’ room. She looks forward to having a BLT on the outside, but he regretfully informs her she’s never getting out of there. Her lab results show the difference in cobalt levels in her blood before and after her surgery is negligible. Which means she did her crimes on her own accord. Heather doesn’t think it makes sense. She’s so much better since her hip replacement. Even so, Ric doesn’t see a path forward for her case. Heather thanks him for trying. She knows it could have been a good payday for him, but it wasn’t just about money for her. She wanted to be with her grandchild. She knows Ric just lost his own grandchild and talks about how, after losing Esme and Franco, this was her last shot at having a family. Clearly affected, Ric apologizes before leaving.

Sam brings a reluctant Kristina to the hospital because this is what Alexis needs most: for Kristina to take care of herself. Kristina feels she’ll never be the same. She’s broken. Sam assures her that’s not true, but that’s why she’s there — to get professional help. Kristina suggests she talk to her dad, who always has good ideas. Sam insists she talk to a professional and goes to see what’s taking so long.

Alone, Kristina calls Sonny to tell him Alexis was sent to Pentonville. Sonny tells her to take care of herself, assuring her he’ll deal with Alexis. After hanging up, Sonny vows to Natalia that he will make sure Alexis doesn’t have to spend one more second in Pentonville than she has to.

After Sam returns, Felicia brings Kristina into her office to discuss the hospital’s services available to her. As Sam waits in the corridor, Dante walks up and embraces her. They discuss the situation and what it’s doing to Sam’s family. As they muse over how to help Alexis, Dante notes the gun that could clear her is at the bottom of a choppy river. Sam reminds him she’s an expert diver. Dante doesn’t like where she’s going with this, but he also knows he can’t stop her. Sam declares she will find the gun Alexis tossed and end her family’s nightmare.

In Felicia’s office, Kristina breaks down over how empty she feels. As someone who has lost her own child, Felicia will help her get through this. Kristina reluctantly agrees to go to a support group, but wants Sam to know about it so she’ll hold her accountable.

Kristina tears up, feeling behind in her grief. Felicia tells her there’s no timetable. She’s there now and getting help. Kristina knows she’ll never get over it, but she could learn to carry it. But how does she carry the guilt over going to Ava’s hotel room? She fears Molly is right and that she’s responsible. Kristina might not have jumped out of the window, but she created the circumstances that led to the accident. Felicia emphasizes her use of the word accident. The best thing she can do is to work on her mental health, and this is a great first step.

Elizabeth finds Ric hanging around the nurses’ hub, waiting on Heather’s test results. However, he’s afraid it’s all over for her. Elizabeth asks if he’ll be staying in Port Charles without a case. He wants to stay for Molly, especially after Alexis has been sent to Pentonville to await trial. Unsettled by the news, Elizabeth departs for rounds as Ric takes a call. When Elizabeth returns, Ric shows her two lab results for Heather. The same sample was tested at GH and an outside lab for redundant testing. Elizabeth agrees they’re different. The outside lab shows the cobalt levels are much lower. She advises him to have the tests done again because something is seriously wrong.

Upon hearing from Brick, Martin visits Sonny, who wants him to represent Alexis. Martin knows this is a huge case, with publicity you can’t buy. Sonny needs someone who will take it for the right reasons and do anything to win. Martin has no intention of losing. They shake on it.

After getting processed at Pentonville, Alexis waits in her cell to meet her cellmate. A guard opens the cell door to let in Heather, who chuckles upon seeing Alexis.

Next on General Hospital,

Ric and Elizabeth have a heartfelt conversation while Anna and Jason try to track down Lucky.

Of course!  I found the "twist" interesting in that there was a 2nd test result totally different from the one at GH (ooppsie, maybe Portia didn't know).  As Liz suggested, get a 3rd blood test on Heather.

Naturally, Heather and Alexis would be cellmates.  LOL

Re: General Hospital šŸ„ September 2024 - Spoilers Included

[ Edited ]

- Sonny, the gangster-muderer, after being told on the phone that Alexis was headed to Pentonville: That's unacceptable.

This whole Alexis storyline has me conflicted because I really don't like her character. Yet she doesn't belong there. (For this, anyway.)

- Other than the fact that KM was fired, I don't know what's going on with her character, except it seemed she was sidelined a lot lately. I've seen more of her replacement the past few days than I did her, and that seemed to be mostly scenes with Dante. If Lulu is about to wake up, I can see the possibility of her getting back with Dante. He's almost been setting the scene for that with his regrets about the past. That leaves even less for Sam to do. Maybe Lulu will get her liver.

- Alexis and Heather in the same cell...pretty contrived.
