Re: General Hospital šŸ„ September 2024 - Spoilers Included

I wonder if Lindsay Hartley is replacing Sam for the duration of the role or if this is temporary and KM will be back until she is killed off.  I read that LH is replacing her for the month of Sept.

I can't imagine KM's delivery to Michael today would have had the same impact with her mumbling her anger in a raised whisper.

Agreed! Good reason to bring him back, yay!

I have been missing him!  He deserves so much more than panting after Lucy. Picking Scott over Martin like five minutes after a squabble? Martin was on his way to make up too. Insane!

I had been wondering if they were going to call Jackson Montgomery or Nora Buchanan, who have each ridden their briefcases into Port Charles for lawyering duty. I adore them both and love seeing them any time they pop in, but Martin (an original GH character) is more than fine for this legal need.

Yes, definitely more than fine šŸ˜

I, too, think yes and let's hope so since Alexis representing herself is digging it wider and deeper.  Now she's going to Pentonville where she will  no doubt meet up with our favorite "cra cra" or is that our former "cra cra"due to a bad hip replacement, Heather.

Sam:  As far as I'm concerned, Lindsay Hartley can portray Sam McCall long term.  Her interaction with Michael today was far better than KM could have ever delivered.

Kristina:  Momma Alexis told you to keep your mouth shut.  Will she?  All this crazy plot is driving me bonkers.  And believe me, it's a very short putt.  Alexis in Pentonville...hmmm, is there another "rescind" of her legal license again coming down the pike?  Guessing "not" unless she becomes a convicted felon.

Kristina:  My last little nerve has gone AWOL.

Willow/Drew:  Ditto the above.

Sonny:  My last little nerve has gone AWOL, yet again. Ahh, what exactly is his plan to see that the mother of his daughter, Kristina, does not go down for his murdering in cold blood of Jagger?

Michael:  Does the term "accessory after the fact" apply, material witness?  Me thinks so.

Trina:  Yay, she is going to go back and enroll at PCU...thank you, Auntie Stella. I have put an APB out for Taggert.  Your "baby girl" might need you!  Oh, that's right...she's not yours afterall...or is she?

I have chartered a private jet to take us all on holiday to the far away, exotic land of gypsies, tramps and thieves known as Somalia. Our host and hostess will be Sidwell and Holly a/k/a "English".  I understand it's lovely this time of year...LOL.  Fasten your seatbelts and enjoy your flight.

Agree on Lindsay Hartley. I like her in the role.

Can't believe I'm saying this because I haven't cared much for Sam recently, but what the heck. Don't kill off Sam, just keep Lindsay. She looks like Nancy and is believable as her oldest daughter, IMO. Her Sam (so far) seems much less annoying than Molly or Kristina, Alexis too, lol šŸ˜‚

No need to kill off Sam just because KM was let go if the goals are to reunite Dante and Lulu or get Molly and Kristina talking, those can be still be done. Lucky will presumably save Lulu so let Sam live awhile longer.

Can Drew please not be half naked now and then? Asking for a friend. Me! šŸ˜‚

The sight of Drew semi naked and dripping wet is apparently too much for the saintly Willow, who is struggling mightily to stay faithful to her family.

I thought she was going to get the vapors from the mere sight of all that testerone on display. Oh my!

Thank goodness Drew's manly muscled arms were there to catch our intrepid principled young nurse before she collapsed breathless and quivering into a heap of jelly and desire (gag).

Not to mention he further put himself on display in all his glory to mama Nina who seemed to be doing her own quivering. Oh my, Part II šŸ’˜

It's all like a (very) bad romance novel (no offense to romance novels, I like them occasionally).

GH RECAP, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17th

Trina meets Stella at the cafĆ© for breakfast. She tells her aunt how sheā€™s been selling many pieces at the gallery. Stella is glad her art appreciation has returned, but itā€™s time for her to return to school. Stella can see she is stalling and thinks sheā€™s afraid of taking the next step. She advises that Spencer wouldnā€™t want her to put her life on hold forever, and itā€™s time for her to reach for her dreams again. Stella knows that Spencer died, but Trina didnā€™t, and she still has her life ahead of her.

Stella reminds her that she used to talk about wanting to be a professor of art or a museum curator, which would require degrees. Trina admits going back to school feels scary. Stella understands but suggests she do it for her future self and the options school today will give her tomorrow. Trina knows sheā€™s right, and Stella suggests they go to PCU and get her registered for the fall. Trina replies, ā€œLetā€™s do it; letā€™s get unstuck.ā€

At the Quartermaine mansion, Nina meets with Sasha in the kitchen about catering a fundraiser for Drew. Sasha is flattered but says Tracy has been harping on her lately, and she needs to keep her head down. Nina reminds her that Drew is a Quartermaine, and she wants this fundraiser to be amazing. Sasha thinks Nina is taken with Drew, and Nina admits Drew has surprised her. Nina suggests if Tracy has an issue with her doing this, then Tracy can take it up with Drew. Sasha notes she and Drew have come far. Nina admits they have, but not far enough.

Outside the boathouse, Willow is doing yoga when a wet Drew emerges fresh from a swim. Willow gets slightly off balance and almost falls over, so Drew swoops in to catch her. She quickly pulls away, and after some small talk, Willow says she should get going and canā€™t run away from him fast enough.

Back in the kitchen, Sasha asks if Nina and Drew have been taking time out of their busy schedules to spend time together, but Nina says they havenā€™t. Sasha can see how dedicated she is to helping Drew. Nina admits they could pick things back up after he wins. Suddenly, Willow appears on the porch and appears to have overheard them talking.

Willow finally steps into the kitchen, saying she smells Sashaā€™s famous scones. Nina notes that she misses working with her daughter, and Sasha offers to get Willow some tea and steps away to get some. Willow asks what brings Nina by, and she explains she is planning a fundraiser for Drew and asked Sasha to cater. She needs to speak to Drew, and Willow says he was just down at the boathouse. Nina heads out to find him.

Sasha returns with tea, and Willow congratulates her on the catering gig. Sash admits sheā€™s still unsure about it, and Willow notes there is a lot of that going around. Sasha finally comes clean about the Fourth of July, and that she saw her and Drew kissing. She gets the feeling what happened is weighing on her, and if she needs to talk, sheā€™s here. Willow calls it just a kiss, and they were simply caught up in a moment. A second later, she breaks down and says it happened a second time.

They sit down, and Willow admits she has feelings for Drew, but she loves Michael and her life with him. Willow cries that sheā€™s trying to keep her distance from Drew, but Sasha points out they all live together, so that has to be difficult. Willow insists sheā€™s done everything she can to avoid Drew, including returning to General Hospital. She thought being away from Drew would stop these feelings, but it hasnā€™t, and she cries that she feels so out of control. Sasha comforts her and understands how she could have feelings for Drew as he saved her life. However, if she loves Michael, she needs to keep staying away from Drew and says they have all made mistakes. Willow thanks her for not judging her. Sasha admits sheā€™s far from perfect. Willow still doesnā€™t know what sheā€™s to do.

Nina heads to the boathouse, where Drew is drying off. Nina tells him about the fundraiser she is planning, but he cuts her off and says itā€™s not working for him. Heā€™s starting to doubt himself, his private life is a mess, heā€™s down four points, and his opponent has the whole family thing going for her. Nina tells Drew that he has Scout, but he wonā€™t use her as a prop. Nina suggests, ā€œThen use me.ā€ She says she could be with him at every event on his arm, and there is no harm in letting the voters assume they are the newest power couple. He asks, ā€œYouā€™d do that for me?ā€ She admits she owes him one, and he laughs, ā€œYou do.ā€

At Michaelā€™s office, Sam grills him about Kristina and where she was the night John Cates died, noting theyā€™ve been attached at the hip lately. Michael admits he wasnā€™t with her but knows she didnā€™t kill Cates. She says he sounds sure, so does he know who did? He steers the conversation back to why sheā€™s concerned about Kristina. Sam knows her mother is protecting Kristina and has now framed herself for a murder she didnā€™t commit. The only way to free her mom is to find the person who killed Cates, and they both know either Sonny killed him or gave the order.

Michael again shifts the topic and says finding the guilty party is not the way to go, as it will take too long, and they need to find the gun and clear Kristina and Alexis. Sam says she hopes they find the evidence to clear her mother, but if they donā€™t, will he let an innocent woman go to prison? She then storms out.

At Sonnyā€™s, heā€™s on the phone telling someone that Alexis doesnā€™t know heā€™s called them for help, and money is no object. He has to end the call when Molly shows up at his door. He invites her in, and she tells him that her mom is being arraigned today. He knows and is going to the courthouse to support her, but Molly says that is the worst thing he can do. She says he will taint her by association. Sonny says he wants to be there for Alexis and Kristina, and he will pay her bail. She says he wonā€™t, the family will find a way to pay it, and this isnā€™t about Kristina but her mother.

Sonny says Kristina has been through a lot lately, so he needs to be there to support both Alexis and his daughter. Molly lashes out Kristinaā€™s dutiful devotion to him is what led her to Avaā€™s suite and the loss of her baby. Sonny argues she never went there expecting to lose a baby, and this is all Avaā€™s fault. Molly retorts that Kristina should never have gone there and tells Sonny they donā€™t need or want him in court today. As for what is best for Kristina, she says that is to see their mom make bail. Sonny says her point has been made, and he wonā€™t go. However, since he canā€™t be there for Kristina, she must put her anger away for now and be there for her sister. He doesnā€™t think Kristina will be able to handle this. Molly wonā€™t make any promises and walks out.

Michael arrives later and asks if he disposed of the gun, and Sonny says Jason took care of it. Michael warns him that Sam has her suspicions about him and will do anything she can to find the evidence to clear her mother. He also says Kristina has time she canā€™t account for, and knowing Kristina, she wonā€™t let her mom take the fall for this.

Sonny never wanted his son to see what he did. He admits that when he saw Michael standing there, for a moment, he thought, ā€œHeā€™s got me now.ā€ Sonny says he had the power to put him away, but Michael chose not to. Sonny says heā€™ll never forget that, and he loves him. Michael says he loves him too, and heā€™ll always choose their family. They embrace.

Kristina is let in to see Alexis in the interrogation room at the station. She hates seeing her mom like this, so she plans to confess. She admits she went to the Quartermaine mansion that night to kill John, but she couldnā€™t do it, and thatā€™s when she went to the cemetery. Kristina thinks if they tell the police, they can retrace her movements that night and get her mom off the hook. Alexis says it wonā€™t help, it will only make her look even more guilty.

Alexis tells her if she doesnā€™t make her look guiltier by coming forward, then sheā€™ll only incriminate herself. Alexis councils Kristina what she just said about wanting to kill Cates, that she should never say it again and not try to help her. Dex interrupts as it is time for the arraignment. They are left alone again, and Alexis tells Kristina she likely wonā€™t face charges as the real killer will be found and to let her handle this.

Kristina meets with Sam outside the courtroom and asks if sheā€™s seen her dad. Molly appears and announces Sonny wonā€™t be here, and thatā€™s for the best. Kristina assumes Molly told him not to come. Molly confirms she did, as sheā€™s trying to do whatā€™s best for their mother, and she should be too. Kristina walks into the courtroom and sits down in a huff. Molly sits behind Kristina, while Sam sits next to Kristina.

A prosecutor is brought in, and Molly doesnā€™t recognize him. Alexis is then escorted in. She gives a nod to her girls. The court begins, and the judge asks the councilor to introduce himself. The man states his name is Reynolds, and heā€™s an FBI agent who is there to prosecute the killer of one of their own.

When asked how she pleads, Alexis states she is not guilty. She asks for bail to be set and for her to be let go on her own recognizance as an officer of the court. Reynolds argues Alexis is dangerous and should be held in custody without bail. Reynolds points out that the defendant has been to prison on assault before and procured a firearm illegally. She counters this is a bail hearing, not a trial. Reynolds points out that she shares a child with Sonny Corinthos, who could quickly fly her off to any country they donā€™t have an extradition treaty with.

Alexis objects to Reynoldā€™s speculation about her. She points out that she is a mother and grandmother and is not a flight risk. She also says the evidence is circumstantial, so she again asks for bail to be set. The judge notes she is a talented lawyer but decides to hold Alexis without bail, and she will be remanded to Pentonville until trial.

Next on General Hospital,

Kristina cries out in court after the judge refuses to grant Alexis bail.

Liz tells Ric, ā€œThat almost sounded like an apology.ā€

In Pentonville, Heather is hopeful.

Felica offers someone her help.

Dante isnā€™t thrilled by what heā€™s told.

Natalia tells Sonny they are bound to catch the real killer eventually.

INTERVIEW

GH EXCLUSIVE: RICK HEARST (RIC) ON HIS ON-SCREEN REUNION WITH MAURICE BENARD (SONNY)

Rick Hearst  and Maurice Benard finally shared their first scenes together since Hearst came back to the show in August ā€” and to hear the actor tell it, both he and Benard had been chomping at the bit to go at it again for the cameras.

Brotherly Love

The chance to go head-to-head with Benard made Hearst emotional. ā€œAs I opened the script, I welled up inside at the opportunity,ā€ he says. ā€œI felt that way about my first moments with Kristen (Molly), with my first major scenes with Nancy (Alexis), with Becky (Liz) and then with Mo. Mo was the biggest one.ā€

His anticipation had begun building when he first encountered Benard at the studio. ā€œWe saw each other a few days prior [to getting the script for their first scenes together]. He said to me, ā€˜How long are you here for?ā€™ And I said, ā€˜I have no idea, Mo. For as long as theyā€™ll have me! Until they kick me out!ā€™ And he goes, ā€˜You and I, weā€™d better work together.ā€™ He said, ā€˜Iā€™m gonna be very upset if that doesnā€™t happen.ā€™ And I was like, ā€˜You and me both, brother. I really pray that that does happen.ā€™ And lo and behold, they had obviously already written it, our very first scenes ā€” and man, oh man, it was on, on, on from the second [we got to set].ā€

Hearst marvels at the unique chemistry he shares with his on-screen kin/rival. ā€œWe giggle because we just love getting into it with each other. Mo is an actor who delivers lines of dialogue in a way that is unique to him, and you donā€™t know whatā€™s going to trigger in you to be able to respond in kind to what he does with the dialogue. Thatā€™s the thing that I think I always loved, and continue to love, about working with Mo.ā€

The actor had a deliberate goal for the scenes. ā€œI literally wanted to make sure that it was something where, the second we locked eyes with one another, weā€™re inside each other [psychologically]. Itā€™s very symbiotic that way. We did the first two scenes and they were like, ā€˜Wow, those were great,ā€™ and Mo said, ā€˜Thatā€™s what happens when he and I do this, when we work together!ā€™ ā€

The work Benard and Hearst did earned high praise from their boss, as well. ā€œAfter everything was said and done, it was very funny because Frank [Valentini, executive producer] was on set for the latter part of the scenes, and he had obviously been watching,ā€ Hearst reports. ā€œAnd [the performances] were very, like, quick, fast, talking on top of one another, a little bit of ad-lib, a little jab ā€” things that organically just popped for both of us. And Frank goes, ā€˜It was great! It was sloppy, but itā€™s because you two hate each other so deeply.ā€™ And when he first said ā€˜sloppyā€™ I was like, ā€˜Oh, no ā€” is that okay?ā€™ And he was like, ā€˜No, no, it works!ā€™ And I was so grateful that we were able to do that. Even when itā€™s just a scene where youā€™re tearing it up with somebody, I get emotional about it because itā€™s such the juice that we all share as actors, that we thrive on and we wait for. And thatā€™s whatā€™s been so great about being back with all these guys on General Hospital.ā€

Now that Sasha has openly discussed the situation with Willow and can see the effects its having on her, was anybody else wanting Sasha to just simply tell Willow that Drew is sleeping with her mom?!  How could that not immediately disgust Willow -- knowing the truth of what Drew is doing?

Because even Nina is supposedly doing all this to help protect Willow.  In fact, I was actually a little surprised that Nina didn't offer up that information herself when she first learned of the situation between Willow and Drew.

It's so convoluted!
