It's probably been discussed here already, (I'm not all caught up)...but, is it just me or do Robert and Diane seem like a weird pairing, with zero chemistry to anyone else but me?
And today's episode...Robert to Holly, when she asked if he and Diane were still a thing...."We're happy" he shrugged, and looked positively bored and completely unconvincing.
I'm sure this ship sailed years ago, but I liked her unlikely pairing with the mob guy..Sonny's guy Max. I'm not sure they ever had much on screen storyline, but they seemed like an interesting, fun couple. Had that yin/yang chemistry. Diane's a firecracker, who played well off a big lug like Max. Her and Robert just seem awkward and no spark. Both of them deserve better. Although, ole Robert ain't a spring chicken...
And Diane...she's so pretty, love her acting...but why does she seem to be wearing a bad wig lately?
Things I ponder while watching. lol.
Side note...any Gilmore Girls fans here? Diane had a small role in the GG revival A Year In The Life, in 2016, Netflix.

Oh no regarding spoilers for next week.....do NOT even say that Lucky already "wants to return to Africa!!" JJ and Lucky better be staying a while...though I know it's likely tenuous. I'd like to see him stay with substantial family stories for a while. Him getting the itch to up and leave so soon, screams LUKE's son, alright!
But he keeps lamenting, on screen, how he realizes he's been away from his family for too long...why then want to up and leave? So I don't get that spoiler.....hoping it's not a quick exit for JJ.

Hansisās original contact with GH was not actually for the role of Lucas. He explains, āI live in New York and this shoots in L.A., but over the years, Iāve submitted tapes a number of times for different characters. There are pluses and minuses to doing self-tapes versus going in the room [auditioning at the studio]. But one of the things that I always loved about being able to go in the room to audition is that you get notes and talk to casting [directors] and really kind of figure out what they were looking for in a way that you donāt when youāre sort of just sending a tape out into the ether. But earlier this summer, I had another tape to send to them and I think pretty soon after, I got a response to that tape. I honestly donāt know if it was for Lucas or not because so many projects use dummy sides [audition scenes], so you donāt really know what character youāre auditioning for; there will be sides that theyāve maybe pulled from earlier episodes and itās not actually your character saying these lines or whatever. So, I auditioned for a character, but I donāt know who it was. About a week later, I got an email from my agent out here in L.A. and she was like, āTheyāre interested in you for a different character. Would you be interested in it? And I was like, āYeah, totally, Iām super-interested in it.ā Again, I did not know who the character was. I didnāt know anything about it!ā
The actor was left on a cliffhanger for some time. āA couple of weeks went by and I hadnāt heard anything, so I emailed my agent and I was like, āSo I guess they went in a different direction?ā And she said, āNo, theyāre very much interested in you.ā ā Soon enough, Hansis says, āI had a Zoom call with Frank [Valentini, executive producer] and Mark [Teschner, casting director] and they kind of told me who the character was.ā ā By that point, Hansis had a sneaking suspicion that Lucas was who they had in mind for him. āI had looked up General Hospital characters and I was kind of like, āOkay, this Lucas guy seems like it would be the right fit for me,ā ā he grins. āI was like, āI bet itās him!ā ā
He got confirmation in that initial meeting. āOn the call, they told me it was Lucas and that they were bringing him back after a long time of being gone.ā In short order, the role was his, āand a month later, I was in L.A. shooting my first episode!ā
Hansis relied on the Internet to get up to speed on his new character. āI became very acquainted with the General Hospital Wikipedia pages,ā he notes. āWith a soap opera, thereās just so much stuff ā especially if your character was born on the show [as Lucas was back in 1989] ā that youāre not going to know. It was very important to me that I honor the history of this character, even though heās going to be different and Iām going to play him differently than Ryan [Carnes, the last actor to hold the role] did or whatever. With soap fans, youāre in these peopleās living rooms five days a week. The fans really get to know your character like a person, and therefore the relationships and how theyāre connected to all the different characters on the show, I think, is really super-important [to understand], because the fans arenāt going to forget any of that.ā
With that in mind, he continues, āIt was important for me to not feel like [my version of Lucas] was some stranger, even though itās going to be my own spin on the character. I thought that making sure that his relationships felt like they had gone on for a bit was important.ā Thatās where his scene partners came in clutch. āBasically, my first few episodes are really just kind of reestablishing the character, so I did a lot of talking with everybody else in the cast. To a person, I was able to ask then, āHow do we know each other?ā āHow do I feel about you?ā āHow do I feel about your relationship with so-and-so?ā And people were so, so good about filling in the backstory.ā
Armed with all that information, Hansis dove in with abandon. He muses, āI think there is something to be said about, you canāt really jump into something like this and feel timid, because these are your characterās family, these are your characterās best friends, and you donāt necessarily feel timid around those people you have those connections with. It was important to me to try to do my best to make it feel like, even though heās been off the map for a while, the character has lived in this world.ā
Hansisās first scenes on air were with Lucasās adoptive half sister, Carly. But the first scenes he actually shot were with Parry Shen (Brad, Lucasās ex-husband) and Cassandra James (Terry). āThe stuff at Carlyās house, I shot at the end of my first week being there,ā he shares. āI had four or five days of shooting before that day, with Parry and Cassandra being the first day.ā
The actor had familiarized himself with the somewhat twisted history Lucas shares with his former husband, whose long deception regarding the true identity of the baby boy they had adopted ā baby Wiley was actually the birth son of Nelle Benson and Michael Corinthos ā tore their marriage asunder. āThat was the main story I had to figure out, what has gone on with the baby and all that stuff,ā Hansis says. āIād been on a soap for so long that I honestly was like, āWell, of course thereās a baby switch!ā Itās always interesting trying to explain storylines to people who donāt watch soap operas, because theyāre the ones who are like, āWait, what is happening?ā Iām like, āYeah, well, you know, he switched the baby, so my baby is actually my nephew now, and there was a cult leader, and a car accidentā¦ [laughs]ā But for me, thatās just the world the characters live in. While itās all high stakes and dramatic and if that were to happen in real life, weād be like, āThatās insane,ā for them, itās like, āThis is a Tuesday in Port Charles.ā ā
Hansis gives high marks to his first Brad/Lucas encounter. āParry was great! He was the first actor I worked with and heās really such a nice guy. We had three relatively short scenes, but it was really great working with him.ā
And while Lucas professed to Brad that they were never, ever, ever getting back together, Hansis observes, āOn soaps, characters say certain things and then act in a different way. So as much as my character is angry at him, they are love interests, so itās like, āHow much of that is really in play? How much of my being like, āWeāll never get back togetherā is actually [how he feels]? You never know!ā
After all, points out Hansis, āRegardless of the hurt that Lucas feels because of Brad, there is also a lot of history there. And one of the things I like about [where the characters are positioned] is that you can feel multiple things at once, right? And regardless of how hurt Lucas is by Brad, I think that Brad is one of the people who knows Lucas the best. There are a lot of conflicting feelings going on, Iāll say.ā
There is juicy story coming down the pike for Lucas once his reunion tour is complete, and Hansis says, āIām diving into a really exciting storyline and itās been such a blast to be here and to be working with all these awesome people both in front of and behind the cameras. Itās been really, really thrilling to be back on daytime. This sounds so cheesy, but on both World Turns and on General Hospital, [the studio floor] is a big dark space with all of these sets in a row on other side, and I donāt know, thereās just something really kind of special and magical about it. I love being on the soundstage. Iāve done a lot of stuff where Iāve shot on location and thatās fun, too, but when youāre on a soundstage waiting for your scenes or whatever, itās like the same vibe I got when I was a kid doing local plays, like being backstage at a play. I love going up to the soundstage every day and seeing what the new sets are and everything. Maybe this comes with time and being older and just the ups and downs of a career, but I think itās really important to take a beat and just kind of live in that [head space] of, āI love doing this! Arenāt I lucky?ā
āMy first day on As the World Turns was the first time I was ever on a soundstage,ā Hansis continues. āItās been so long since Iāve been on it, but I think especially because that was my first job, itās what I got used to. So being able to come back to a soap all these years later, it really does feel like, āOh, I know how this world works, I know the sort of intricacies of what daytime it like.ā As a genre, I really, really love doing it. I love the pace, I love how quick it is, I love that you get to do something different every day. Iām just really happy to be here.ā

Hasn't she always?! I did like her outfit.
Well, looks like it will be her liver that saves Lulu, now that Lucky's liver isn't viable... that will make it a bunch of torn feelings for poor ole Dante. Wow.
I've never been a huge Same fan, don't dislike her, just ambivalent towards her...but that said....I'm not glad they unceremoniously fired her for I'm not sure what the bts story is, but doesn't sound nice. I'm also glad they are not recasting her...I don't love her stand-in, or any stand-in, in that role....I think she's just been Sam too long, and for me, I identify only KM with Sam. Poor Alexis, who I don't love at all, but I feel for her losing a daughter.

And Diane...she's so pretty, love her acting...but why does she seem to be wearing a bad wig lately? I was wondering if that was "a bad wig". Normally, Diane is immaculately groomed.
