Okay and now we're on to GH and the refugee crisis and world peace. I swear I am going to be done with this BS and soon.
Brennan can't sustain me for long...

I like Charlotte, future Helena in the making, lol, if we are lucky. š„°

Oh boy I will be looking forward to Laura14's recap as my viewing of GH which comes on in the Philadelphia's market at 3:00 EST has been pre-empted by the announcement of Trump's VP. Of course they have to go on and on.
Edited to add: Oh goody it is now 3:30 and they are going back to regular programming. I probably missed Willow's confession to Nina- geez now Nina is her only confidant.
ā07-15-2024 05:57 PM
OMG, how old is Willow? No, seriously. Is she a grown woman, wife, mother, career person or some teenager who kissed her best friend's boyfriend. She's over the top about "the kiss". And of course confiding in Mama Nina, well it's just beyond the pale. I admit I did like the slap that Nina gave to Drew. I'd like to slap him all the way back to the Hallmark Channel.
Anna/Charlotte: Don't you just leave these trust fund minors who can hop a plane from Europe to the US without a parent knowing same? What if there was a "situation"...Daddy Valentin would not be the wiser that his daughter was on her way back home. Oh well.
So now all is well with Anna and Charlotte. Each other has forgiven the other. And it was Charlotte's schoolmates who helped her through her thinking? Yep, more current events going on here which I can watch on any other venue...not on my soap...thank you very much, writers.
Anna/Val/Pikeman: So our "honest" law enforcement officer has the goods on Val and won't turn same over to Jason who in turn would turn it over to Jagger Cates. What does that tell us about the moral compass and her word? Can't trust Anna. Sorry Jason.
Carly/Brennan: There is definately chemistry between those two. I'm thinking that somehow Brennan is going to find a way for Carly (maybe Spinelli) to "erase/delete" what the FBI has on Carly/RICO violations. Jason had Carly's back and now she will return the favor.
It's martini time...after today's episode...well overdue. Cheers, mon petites.

Drew spoke with Michael, who was taking over as Aurora's CEO because of Drew's run for Congress. Drew wanted to know if it would be hard for Michael to work with Nina. "Just say the word, and she's gone. I will fire her today if you want me to," Drew said.
Michael assured Drew that wasn't necessary and noted that Drew had helped Willow and Nina break the ice. Drew was grateful that Michael wanted to credit Drew with bringing Nina and Willow together, but it had been completely Willow's choice to give her mother another chance. "Willow is helpful and forgiving and really tries to see the best in people," Drew said.
Michael concurred, and he reminded Drew that Willow looked up to him. Drew's congressional run even gave Willow something to believe in. Drew said he hoped he could live up to Willow's faith in him. Michael insisted Willow would be his biggest supporter -- as long as he didn't let politics go to his head. Michael was also impressed that Drew had forgiven Nina for sending him to prison, but it ensured Crimson's success to have Nina at the helm.
Nina was pleased when Willow walked into her office, but she was alarmed when Willow seemed distraught. "I did something terrible, and there is nobody I can talk to about it. It's the kind of thing you can only tell your mom," Willow cried.
Willow told Nina all about watching the fireworks with Drew and getting caught up in the moment. She said one thing had led to another, and she and Drew had soon been kissing. Nina was stunned but tried to be supportive. "Of all things you could have confessed to me, kissing Drew was not what I expected," Nina said.
As Nina tried to listen and hide her shock, Willow went on and on about how much closer she and Drew had grown since they had started working together. Willow could see how much Drew wanted to help people by running for Congress and was even grateful he had brought her and Nina closer together. Willow admitted that she couldn't stop thinking about their kiss, and she said it was unfair.
Nina tried comforting Willow, insisting Willow was being too hard on herself. Willow explained that she wasn't being unfair to herself, but instead, it was unfair to Michael and Drew. Willow wanted Drew to focus on his campaign and not have a confusing relationship with her as a distraction.
Nina said Willow was giving Drew too much consideration. Nina reminded Willow that Drew shared some of the blame for the kiss, but Willow insisted it never should have happened at all. Nina confessed that she'd kissed someone she wasn't supposed to kiss, so she understood. She asked what Willow was going to do about the situation. Willow replied that it was never going to happen again because she and Drew regretted the kiss.
However, Willow told Nina that Drew had told her that in a different world, he wondered if they could have had a relationship. Nina tried making Willow feel better by telling her that sometimes things happened in life; it was a mistake. She said Willow knew that, and it would never happen again. "It's understandable. You're human. Don't beat yourself up so much about it," Nina said.
Willow worried that Michael wouldn't be so understanding when she told him, so Nina told her not to tell him. Willow couldn't imagine how she could keep her indiscretion a secret. She said Michael would be able to tell something was wrong. Nina reminded Willow that there was no way to predict how Michael would react to her confession. Nina finally convinced Willow to keep things quiet, but as soon as Willow left, Nina called Drew and demanded that he come to her office.
Soon, Willow arrived at Drew's office and found Michael there. At that same moment, Drew walked into Nina's office. Before he could say a word, Nina promptly slapped him hard across the face.
Anna and Valentin began their day in bed. When Valentin went to make breakfast, Anna was able to swipe his burner phone and hide it in her pocket before Valentin entered the room. He suggested they go out to eat. Just then, Charlotte surprised them both and walked through the door. She said she had decided to return home from boarding school early when her friends had all gone to a Greek island for vacation. She said she'd seen enough of Greece in her life, so she'd decided to go home instead.
When the awkwardness of Anna being with Valentin ended, Charlotte finally apologized to Anna for everything that had happened the previous fall. "I'm sorry I trashed your hotel room...you were always so sweet to me, but I thought it was all an act. My grandfather Victor told me you were evil, and I believed him," Charlotte said.
Charlotte explained that her change of heart had happened when she'd met kids at school whose country had been attacked. They had lost their entire family and had been forced to leave their lives behind. Knowing they were from a country with a dictatorial leader had made her see that Victor had been the same type of person.
Anna issued her own apology, saying she'd made a lot of mistakes and hurt a lot of people, including what she had done to Charlotte. "Shooting you was the worst thing I ever did in my life," Anna said. Charlotte accepted that Anna was sorry and hadn't meant it. They forgave each other and embraced.
After Anna left, she went straight to Jason's room above Bobbie's and plugged the phone into a laptop to start extracting files. When Jason returned, she told him she had everything they needed to take Pikeman and Valentin down. Jason asked her to hand over the phone so he could get back to his life, but Anna said she couldn't give it to him just yet.
Brennan was surprised when Carly paid him another visit at Pentonville. "You never come to see me just to chat. Something's wrong. Does it involve the FBI?" he asked. Carly tried to make small talk at first, with Brennan wondering if she was a government spy. Carly scoffed at the idea, admitting that she was way too selfish for that line of work. "I don't want to save the world. I just want to save myself and the people I love," she said.
Carly told Brennan that her lawyer claimed she could have a 30 percent chance of acquittal if the FBI took her case to trial. Brennan didn't like those odds, so he offered her a way to improve them. Brennan reminded her that the government lawyers would show her no mercy. He thought she should either go on the offensive by going public and undercutting the agent who had brokered the deal with Jason, or she should make sure Jason remained valuable to the FBI until she could somehow destroy both the evidence and the case. Carly said she had thought about that, but the recording was on a protected server.
Jason stood outside Elizabeth's door, listening to her family activities. He was bending to slide an envelope under the door just as Elizabeth opened it. He explained that he hadn't wanted to interrupt, so he'd thought he'd just leave a check for Jake's tuition and expenses. Elizabeth invited him in to personally ask if Jake would accept his offer.
When Jason and Jake were face to face, Elizabeth told Jake his dad wanted to give him something. Jason said he had heard Jake had been accepted to a prestigious art school in Spain. Jake was humble about it and mentioned that he might not be able to go if loans didn't come through. That was when Jason said that he wanted to pay for Jake's school. "That's super generous of you, but it's not necessary," Jake said.
Jason insisted he was not trying to buy forgiveness. He knew that had to be earned, but there were no strings attached to Jason's offer to pay for Jake's schooling. "I want you to be able to choose to be the happiest without having to worry about how you're going to pay for this. If I'd been a different kind of father -- any kind of father -- paying for your school wouldn't be a question," Jason said.
Jake admitted that he finally understood that Jason had tried to do the best he could under unusual circumstances, so he accepted his father's money. Jake offered Jason his hand to shake, but the father and son ended up hugging instead.

Question of the day:
Will Carly blackmail Jagger to get him to delete her recording or will she save him once again and get the FBI's gratitude in hitting the delete button?
I personally favor the break Brennan out of jail (see Heather for the keys) and let the man work his magic.

The universe knew we needed a pick me up....

ABC
Soap Opera Digest: Letās talk first about you landing the role. Was it the first time youād auditioned for a soap opera?
Charles Mesure: It was very much my first time. I had never really thought about [doing a] soap opera or General Hospital or anything like that. Last year was a very strange year with the writersā strike and the actorsā strike and so forth, and when [this audition came up], Iāll be honest about it, I thought, āIām an old dog. Iām not sure if I can learn any new tricks! Iām not sure if I can adapt to the huge amount of dialogue that these fantastic actors on shows like General Hospital can learn. Iām not sure if I can suddenly be a leading man again at the age of 53!ā So, I had doubts about going in [to read for the part]. But I went in and [Casting Director] Mark Teschner was such a superb ambassador for the show and Laura Wright [Carly] was so superb when I read with her and such a gracious host in the way that she ran that chemistry read. I thought, āOh, I think I really want to work with her!ā So, that was it. We did that read in front of Frank [Valentini, executive producer] and a room full of producers, and just in the context of the pandemic and everything, that was my first time in a room full of producers in about three years, so that was fun. I enjoyed working with Mark and I enjoyed working with Laura and Iām glad that it worked out.
Digest: So, you get the job and then you have to face your fears about doing the job. What was it like for you to dive into the showās fast and furious taping schedule?
Mesure: Well, my adjustment is still going on, quite frankly! For 28 years, I came from a single camera film background where you can only do eight, nine, 10 pages a day. Thatās the limit of that basic work method. And on General Hospital, itās no secret that they do 10 times that every day! So itās still a challenge, but itās a fun challenge. I had a day where I did 28 pages, which is my record. That was fast and furious. I went and had a chat with Finola Hughes [Anna] in the green room and she said, āHoney, 28 pages isnāt a big day. Sixty pages is a big day!ā I have, to this day, no idea how the veterans on this show do it. Finola and Laura are just incredible! In the beginning, I was on every day, but the workload was lighter, I suppose. Laura was great; she was incredibly supportive and she was good company on set, too. We got through it and she was enormously fun to act with in the scenes. Sheās such a great scene partner. It is a very different beast in terms of the workload and the schedule and the pressure to anything Iāve ever done, but it continues to be fun. And as long as it continues to be fun, I hope we do it for a while.
Digest: I think what I responded to in your performance right away is that it felt like you were having fun. The ātroublemaker with a twinkle in his eyeā is one of my favorite soap archetypes.
Mesure: The truth is, Iāve had an absolute ball. Iām really surprised at how much fun this has been because I was so apprehensive about the workload, I was apprehensive about the pressure and the schedule and so forth, but Iāve had an absolute ball every single day Iāve been there. Part of it is the character. He has a massive level of narcissism and mendacity and by his own admission, in his line of work, he plays fast and loose with the truth. So every time a new script comes in, I go, āOkay, what story is Jack Brennan telling this week?ā I think he does enjoy being the bad guy to a degree. Heās got a smile on his face and sort of a smart-ass comeback for every single moment. Also, I lucked out to be working with Finola Hughes and Laura Wright, these incredible actresses who come to play in every single scene Iāve had with them. Iām not quite sure what theyāre going to do and consequently, theyāre not quite sure what Iām going to do. And so thereās this space that happens where no oneās quite sure whatās going to happen and that is exhilarating to play.
Digest: What was your reaction when you read that Brennan was going to stab himself?
Mesure: I thought it was fun! Iām not in consultation with Frank or the writers in any way; all I have is the scripts that turn up and I go, āWho is Jack Brennan this week?ā Because his version of events and the story heās telling to the people around him changes every week. That turned up and I went, āOkay, that will be fun to play. I have a little fight there that I can contribute to the choreography of.ā I love doing that stuff. The guy that I did [the scene] with was great; he was a very good stuntman. But I had no idea what it meant and even in subsequent episodes where, Jack was describing why he did it, his story about that changed from episode to episode! From day one, every week heās delivering a different version of events, so it really is a magical mystery tour of, āWhat is this guyās hidden agenda?ā And every week I go, āOh, thatās what he really means,ā and then the following week I find out, āOh no, his plan was actually this other thing!ā But I really canāt tell you how much I enjoy playing those games with Laura and Finola. As Iāve gotten to know them, Iāve become quite fond of them. Theyāre really good company and we have quite a laugh on set. My friendship with them is sort of infusing the work, but then, Iām also playing a character who may be a complete sociopath! Iām playing a friendship with them, but I just may be stone cold underneath.
Digest: Do you think your creative freedom in playing Brennan has been enhanced by you not having all the answers about Brennanās true nature?
Mesure: I was talking to Adam Harrington (John) about this the other day. There really is a freedom when I donāt really know what this guyās true motives are. Thereās a real freedom to just playing the moment for whatever it is. But itās been very clear that the guy is lying and itās very clear that he uses humor to stop the other character from seeing what he is really thinking. Jack can be incredibly obnoxious because you donāt really know what his moral center is and thatās a lot of fun to play.
Digest: Iāve seen fans commenting online about the chemistry they see in your scenes with both Finola and Laura, and Brennan has certainly developed interesting dynamics with both Anna and Carly. Would you welcome the chance to flesh out and build upon those relationships?
Mesure: As an actor, I hope I get to work with Laura and Finola for a long time. As an actor, I tend to play a lot of characters who are very high-impact and who are probably more interesting and useful to the audience the less you see of them, you know? Like, Jack Brennan could be a bit like the shark in Jaws. The less the shark is around, the more interesting the shark is! Jack Brennan may be in that category. He may be more dangerous and appealing the less you see of him. I have no idea what the writers have in mind, but as an actor, I love spending time with Laura and Finola, absolutely.
Digest: Is there anything youād like to say to the GH audience?
Mesure: I really appreciate the people who find Brennan obnoxious! There are folks saying, āIsnāt Brennan charming, isnāt he sexy,ā and then there are folks who find him a complete jerk and I go, āOh, my God, they see me! They see what Iām doing!ā Because Brennan does things that are hideous! He lies every five seconds! Heās got an incredibly sleazy, sexually aggressive side and so on. And when people remark about that on [X, formerly Twitter], I appreciate that, too, you know? I appreciate that people see all sides of the dude, because heās no Boy Scout. Iāve been really tickled that Laura and Finola seem to have tolerated having me around and the fans seem to have enjoyed it. Iām happily surprised that it seems to be working out so far!

I think Brennan will get out of jail...somehow, but not a break out. He said something to (Val, Anna?) about not being in a hurry to have his lawyer get him out on bail.....bottom line, he's still in there b/c it serves his purpose, but I think he's going to be back in a suite at the MC soon; and, as you say @Laura14 work his magic for Carly....at a price.....LOL
@Laura14 For you...I have reserved Brennan a towel & chaise at the MC pool and am supplying him with (ahem) proper attire for a swim. Enjoy!

@mysoutherncomfort It will be my pleasure to help him in and out of that attire. I'll make sure I bring the olives.
