For Those Who Liked "Soul Train" Back in the Day

New series "American Soul" airs tonight on BET.  It is based on the beginnings and development of the show.  I'll be watching.

My dad and I were avid viewers of this and American Bandstand back in the day!  I don't care who you talk about today, TINA TURNER is the best ever!  LOVE that lady!  And James Brown? Nobody ever on stage like that man!

I sure miss seeing them and many others.  At least we have YouTube!

@deepwaterdotter  Love the music from that time, grew up on it.

I once saw Rosie Perez ( actress and dancer) talking about her early years as a dancer on soul train. She described a disagreement she had with Don Cornelius concerning her style of dance that resulted in her throwing a box of chicken at him. She wanted to start dancing hip hop and he only wanted her todo that pelvic thrust thing. You should look her up on youtube of her days on soul train to see what I am talking about. She ended up leaving and started the fly girls on the east coast. Guess who she hired as a dancer with the fly girls, none other than Jennifer Lopez.

@SoonerI saw James Brown in concert in the early 70s and I agree, he was an amazing performer, and what energy he had!!!
