The Walking Dead returns with new shows in October.
Fear the Walking Dead is a new show that starts tonight.

They have been running the WD season marathons for several weeks now. It has been fun to see how the group hqas evolved from season to season. Also what is interesting is to see the difference between season one and two when there was a director change and the storyline went in the direction of the comics and not what the original director intended. (He wanted to have a different group each season and to see how they developed in a different area.) That was not what Kirkman who as you may or may not know is the creator of the WD comics and series.
He had planned on a different series all together because he knew the fans of the comics (like mysef ) would not like it and revolt!
So this will be fun to watch a new group totally separate evolve and become the lucky survivors.

So what did everyone think? I really enjoyed the show! I think it's doing a great job of building up to the crescendo. I do think part of the appeal will be that we (the audience) know what is to come. I'm having a hard time warming up to the main characters' children. I think the mother needs a little more emotion about her character, too, but hopefully that will come. Overall, I thought the plot was well scripted and it had the right amount of tense moments to make me come back for more!

I found it a little slow at first. WE know whats coming but these folks do not. I enjoyed the build up and finally get to see some good ol zombies. I enjoy the actor who plays Travis the school teacher boyfriend. He has always been an outstanding actor. I don't know anything about the others. I am willing to watch and see where this one goes. Two Walking Dead shows! WOW

I like the druggie Johnny Depp kid. I am rooting for him and glad he knows for sure he is not crazy. The daughter seems wishy washy. I liked the boyfriend but the Mom reminded me of Andrea's character on WD. So hopefully that will change. She seemed the typical clueless single Mom character. I hope the kid who tried to explain to her what is going on survives.
All in all it seems to be leading up to the breakdown of society before the WD.

I couldn't get into it, but now that I read these reviews, I will watch the rerun.

I agree with all the points in@AngusandBuddhasMom's post.
I like the son, I like the adult teacher boyfriend, I suppose the mom is based in reality (but hope she is a quick learner!), and I, too, hope the kid who tried to smuggle in the knife in the beginning (I hope that's the one you mean) survives.
I also watched The Talking Dead beforehand. That is a fun show. They said there will only be six episodes of Fear the Walking Dead, and then The Walking Dead is on. They really talked up the premiere of The Walking Dead, which will also be an hour and a half. They didn't say what it was about, just that it would be exciting (of course).

I thought it was extremely slow and boring. But I think they are setting the stage for us to find out what originally happened. I'll give it time.

All I can say is--Rick and Daryl have nothing to FEAR from this piece of garbage.....I wanted to see movie stars walking around like zombies! Too slow moving and boring people....

I take it you only know the TV version of the walking dead. Which is fine but that and this series is about humanity and how it deals with our world and the world post Apocalypse. It can't tell a back story by starting in the future.
It's a different vibe and a different group who have no idea what is about to take place. I have faith in Kirkman and his ability to weave a story and bring the viewer in and smack them up with fear and thoughts of what would I do if that happened.
Hope you will hang in there to see how this unfolds.
