3:30 p.m. Eastern-- "The Thin Man Goes Home" William Powell, Myrna Loy, Lucile Watson, Harry Davenport, Gloria De Haven
The second-to-the-last of the delightful "Thin Man" series, with one of the best movie couples ever, the inimitable Powell and Loy as mystery-detecting couple, "Nick and Nora Charles".
It's fun to see Nick and Nora visiting his parents in Nick's hometown, where murder follows them, inevitably. By now it's the mid-Forties, and it's interesting following the couple as they have matured from the mid-Thirties' Depression-era couple they were at the beginning....
Powell and Loy, funny and sparkling and the best in the business....
Right now, "The Shadow of the Thin Man" is on, but I didn't get back in time to alert it. Crazy day!

I got nothing done today. Every movie starred William Powell and Myrna Loy. So I was watching. Even made my husband make dinner.
"The Thin Man Goes Home" was packed with MGMs stable of stars.

Yeah, @drizzellla, I'm sorry I twigged to it too late to get much of the movies recorded. Powell and Loy are such a treat. I saw in real time a tiny bit of "Manhattan Melodrama" with Gable, Powell and Loy-- also a dynamic combo.
TCM has been so hit and miss, for me anyway, that I love these little oases of good stuff!

Tonight at midnight "Lady for a Day" is on.
I enjoy that movie especially because of the cast. Warren William, May Robson and Guy Kibbee all are a delight to watch.

And, "Lady for a Day" was directed by the superb Frank Capra, which always helps!

@Oznell What great pics! I love them so much. This wasn't one of my favorite TM movies, but of course it was good. His dad is a doctor, right? Thanks for mentioning the 40's thing. I don't think I picked up on that. That's my favorite era, FHS!

Oh, mine too, totally, @Judaline!. The sets, the clothes, the music and ambiance. And so many of the great stars were at their peak in the Forties. Sublime time for movies!
