FANS OF FILM NOIR MASTERPIECE, "LAURA", WEDNESDAY ALERT!

Hey, weren't people just mentioning "Laura"?  Your wish is TCM's command:

Wednesday, 6:15 p.m. Eastern TCM--  "Laura"  Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, Vincent Price, Clifton Webb, Judith Anderson

Otto Preminger's unforgettable tribute to the elusive dream girl.  Wonderful sets, clothes, snappy performances.  It's about time this aired again!

Excellent movie.  Wonderful cast.  And that theme!

@Oznell   Yes, I remember.  My mother named me after her!

Have, always, loved this movie, one of my favorites!  She was lovely, her life was so sad at times.  She suffered from manic depression, her daughter Daria was born deaf, blind and mentally disabled due to Tierney contracting rubella from a fan while she was carrying Daria.

I so enjoyed her in The Ghost & Mrs. Muir, too!  My timer is set!

Instead of "live Tweets," we fans might want to "live chat."

Thank you, @Oznell

I'm sure you guessed I own this one but clearly it's one I and many of us never tire of watching.

Did I ever mention that Laura was the movie that inspired me to try using what I understand is one of the origins of the word "posh" to enhance my ride on the commuter train?

Laura took the train to her country home.  And since "posh" is a word I associate with the movie, even though it's never mentioned, I applied it to my commuter train ride. (POSH was said to stand for "port out, starboard home" - although that is also disputed, but never mind, I used it anyway.)

So I sat on the left side of the train going toward the city, and the right on the way home.  Of course, the best part was imagining I was in the world of Laura.  Work thoughts kept at bay always worked for me.

Hey @Oznell

Another good book I found was a book on Dan Duryea

Think it was called Dan Duryea: Heel with a Heart.

I ran across it on Amazon. Called the lib. to see if they could get it in from another lib. It's still pricey. If I can get Van Johnson tell all and this one I'll

be set.

I loved Dan Duryea !

Great story, @GingerPeach -- and agreed, the word "posh" definitely goes with the movie!

@SharkE, hey, I really like Dan Duryea too!  He was supposed to be a very nice guy in real life, wasn't he, as opposed to his patented slimy "heel" character he played onscreen.  He and Elisha Cook are two of my favorite gangsterish character players from old film...

I thought Laura was a boring movie
