I was very sorry to hear this. I think he devoted much of his career to help people and he seem to genuinely care about others.

She was very overweight and wanted to get healthy for her daughter so she wrote to Richard Simmons and told him her problem. She wanted his tapes and asked if she could pay for them over time. He sent her a nice letter and gave her the tapes for free. I've never forgot his kindness to her.
He was a special man.
@azgal Thank you very much for sharing that story. Its so heartwarming to know that Richard wrote and sent tapes to your coworker. Richard was such a caring and special person. He went above and beyond to show people that he cared.

He was a sensitive soul ... rest in peace

Oh, no! I am so sad. I did not hear that. I always, always, loved him. He was such an inspiration to so many people and really, from what I hear, he genuinely loved people and wanted to, and did, help so many people. If only there were many more kind souls like him on this earth, how much better off we would all be!

That's sad. He did a lot for others.

Last evening I watched a clip of him explaining he'd had knee surgery, then needed it on the other knee and decided not to do it. So he told himself, I'll just set back and take care of me and be quiet. So I guess he did that. @Kachina624

I'm going to cook Richard Simmons Deal A Meal Minestrone soup tonight in honor of Richard Simmons.

This is so sad. He was an amazing person. He had been off of social media for a long time and no one heard from him and were worried.
He recently had come back to soc. media and it was fun to see his posts.
I read today that he fell in the bathroom and that is so sad.
Maybe had a head injury or something??

Someone mentioned Deal-A-Meal, and did that bring back memories. A woman at work swore by that system. She brought the "billfold" with cards to work (late '80s-early '90s), and she'd be moving them around in the break room. It worked for her, too.
I also remember the morbidly obese NYC man he tried to help for so long--Walter Hudson. For a time, that sad case was on the news almost daily. Ultimately, hee died and they had to remove him via a hole in the building. Richard Simmons really cared about those he tried to help. R.I.P.
