Thanks!

Fun to see the fashions, besides the winning and reactions.  Glad when the award shows air in January - Usually a dreary month around here.  Breaks the monotony.

Am I supposed to care about an entertainer's political exhortations?

I like to watch all the award shows. Emmy, Golden Globe, Oscars, Tony's. Fun to see all the fashion too.

Always pleasant to see a topic wherein hard working, talented actors are bashed and trashed.  I enjoy watching all of the awards shows!

It continues to perplex me as to why some are so resentful of those who achieve fame and success and celebrity in the field of entertainment.

So much bitterness over financial gains and personal wealth accumulation.  How bizarre, bizarre.

It's quite odd.

ITA .... I think most people don't understand how much training goes into acting.  Oftentimes, being talented isn't nearly enough.

The criticism doesn't stop with actors, but also musicians, writers, anyone in the creative arts.

Why people get so self-righteous over people that have worked hard in their chosen profession is ... strange.

Gee, I tuned in to se which were nominated and, not surprisingly, few are network programs. (Abbott Elementary, BTW, is typical of how networks now advertise their series which pull in abysmal ratings: "Critics praise..." "Award-winning..."). I didn't see "bashing and trashing," simply posters expressing an opinion on either the preponderance of awards given to those in this profession (and when's *your* annual award show for your chosen profession?), prevalence of other-than-network programs nominated, and winners traipsing to the stage to preach to an audience of ever-decreasing home viewers. Wait. 🤔I thought that theirs was an important profession because of the *diversion* it provides from pressing current affairs.

LOL. So some of us have a differing opinion on self-aggrandizing award shows. I'll add the lack of "class" in both dress and comportment. It doesn't take long for the "bleepers" to kick in these days, and you never know who's going to get socked. Fashions? I guess we all have our standards, but "Old Hollywood" is dead.

Though there are many professions more important than the performing arts, I don't expect to see "Accountant," or even "Neurosurgeon" on a headstone, yet "Actor" makes a frequent appearance. Very strange, indeed.

The pain they have cost us, the evils that never happened.

Thank you! I run into this as a musician, when people actually ask me if I get paid for playing. Uh, yes. I have 2 degrees and have put in countless hours of individual practice, lessons, rehearsal time, etc. It's like people think this is easy or is nothing more than a hobby, and it's incredibly insulting and frustrating! My friends in the different artistic disciplines are some of the hardest working and most intelligent people I've ever known, not to mention their level of passion and commitment to giving their audiences the highest possible quality of product.

(This whole thing reminds me of the 2 women who come to hear one of my orchestras and sit in the front row and hold a conversation while we play. Yes, we can hear you. You apparently don't comprehend the level of focus required by us as we perform for you, and the fact that we make multiple decisions and adjustments along the way as we also try to communicate what the composer intended and make you feel something.) Rant over.

“…nevertheless, she persisted.”

I am going to watch. I don't care about their speeches, because if I don't agree with them, I don't agree. I don't expect everyone to have the same opinions as I do anyway.

At the Golden Globes, I didn't hear any talk about politics.....The actors have just as much right as anyone else to voice their opinions, I feel...I just doesn't  bother me like that..

The days of fawning over Hollywood is over for a lot of us. We have several reasons why no longer want to watch them give each other awards. We are going to criticize and bash them. They do it to us , only fair. If you know you know. If you find that times have changed and people have changed odd, I don't know what to tell you.

@Nancy Drew   totally Agree !

I watch all of the major awards shows and it has been years since I heard any "political" commentary during an acceptance speech.

As just noted, there was absolutely nothing of the sort during the Golden Globes ceremony.
