Elephant Walk with Elizabeth Taylor - TCM

It's on tonight at 11PM EST.  I haven't seen this movie in years.  Liz is newly married to a rich British plantation owner (Peter Finch) and living in India.  There is a sort of love triangle invoving an American (Dana Andrews) who works for her husband.  Vivien Leigh originally started filming in the role, but due to her mental illness, was replaced by Liz Taylor.  Some far away shots of Vivien were kept in the movie.  Filmed in 1954.  I enjoyed it and will watch again.

If you are a fan of Liz, it's worth watching.

An oldie but goodie.  I haven't seen that movie in years!  The scene w/the elephants is mostly what I remember about the movie. Smiley Surprised

Thanks @twinsister  for the heads up!

Re: Elephant Walk with Elizabeth Taylor - TCM

I am curious - was the Vivian Leigh version of Elephant Walk being shot in B&W? Or were the still photography shots just happen to be B&W.

Curious if the studio decided to put more money into the production since Elizabeth Taylor was going to star in the movie.

These are stills.  I assume her footage was in color since as noted, some long shots were incorporated into the released film.

The big difference is that Vivien was filming on location in then Ceylon,  while the film with Elizabeth was shot in Hollywood.   You can see the back projection used.

Oh how I wish I had TCM!

Would love to watch as I have not seen this movie in years.   I did not know about Vivien Leigh being replaced.  Thanks for the info!
