I saw that movie at the theater in 1970 and had a life-long crush on Donald Sutherland after that.

To me, he was always attractive and wonderfully quirky.

@Witchy Woman  Great description. I agree.

Donald Sutherland

With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.

Such a canny, talented actor, across the decades.  Perfect role for him was the Dad in "Ordinary People".   A very recognizable and resonant father that was-- affable, modest, but with submerged reserves of strength that came to the fore.   RIP.

This is such sad news!  He was an incredible actor-  I loved him in "Don't Look Now".

That was scary!

@Pearlee  It was a very scary movie and Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland were amazing in that movie! Smiley Happy

Such a good actor and such diverse roles.  I think the last thing I saw him in was The Undoing with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant (another favorite of mine).  Each role he played was compelling.  I could not take my eyes off him.  We've lost another great one.

@Oznell   That movie was so well done- he did an incredible job in "Ordinary People" .I think that's one of the most thought provoking films I've ever seen. You wrote a very touching and thoughtful description of his role in "Ordinary People" Heart

May he RIP. I will always remember him in Invasion of the Body Snatchers.  What a phenomenal movie that was.
