Re: Don't forget SNL tonight

The show was REALLY WELL DONE!! It was so fun going back in time, revisiting my favorite skits & characters.

Celeb Jeopardy was always one of my faves, & last nights skit was perfect.

My only huh??? was why so much Kayne? He didn't belong there....what an idiot.

I'd watch this again. I hope they replay it!

Show was always on too late for me. I have always thought of it as an 80/20 show. 80% unfunny, 20% the funniest ever.

Re: Don't forget SNL tonight

I enjoyed the 'Kanye, don't storm the stage' bits. He was pretty funny. I didn't listen to his song, though. I FF'd through a couple other bits.

I also ended up having to FF through the Miley Cyrus song segment. I hadn't actually ever heard her sing so I decided to give it a go. Her voice - I don't know - it kind of makes me anxious. I don't care for her voice. But, I tried. Smiley Happy

I was surprised at two things I suppose - 1) Mr DeNiro, one of the best actors of our time, isn't so great at reading cue cards, is he? and; 2) Eddie Murphy didn't do any comedy.

Oh, and one other thing - there weren't many commercials! It took me almost three hours to get through the 3.5 hour show.

Re: Don't forget SNL tonight

Watched the first hour and a half and dvred the rest to watch today. Loved what I saw though. My husband and I felt a bit old, though, watching it since we have watched it for the entire 40 years. Oh, many nights maybe only 1/2 hour (especially as we're getting older and always fall asleep) but , for 40 years, starting as a young married couple watching those first shows through now, at age 63. We remembered every single old skit that they showed. The Celebrity Jeopardy was hilarious last night!! That show wasn't always the funniest but when it was and is, it is great! Todd and Lisa and the cheerleader skits with Will Farrell and Cheri Oteri were my all time favorites.Oh, and when Gilda Radner played that hyper little girl. It filled the time while sitting up feeding a baby many times too and if we were out for the evening, the first thing we've always done is to turn on SNL when we got home. I swear that the only time we didn't watch , at least, a portion of it ,is when we've been out of the country.

Re: Don't forget SNL tonight

That's cool that you've watched it the whole 40 years, Jackielee!

I pretty much watched the first couple of 'generations' of the show, the original cast and the next bunch, and just a little of probably the third bunch. But I've watched it very little since then, so it's been many years. I still enjoyed seeing the different skits represented, from the entirety of the show.

On Saturday night they re-aired S01, E01 and I watched that, too. I had actually forgotten that it used to be a 90 minute show. Janis Ian was a musical guest on that episode. I had also forgotten what a stunningly beautiful voice she has! That was a treat, as she sang two different songs.
