Jack Lemmon was in several excellent movies including:

Some Like It Hot, The Fortune Cookie, The China Syndrome, It Should Happen To You, How To Murder Your Wife, Grumpy Old Men, The Odd Couple, and more.

But, my favorites are The Apartment and The Days of Wine & Roses.

The Guardian coined Lemmon as the most successful Tragi-Comedian of his age, often playing a middle-class everyman role.

Do you have a favorite Jack Lemmon movie?

@Desert Lily - For me, The Apartment. I remember the first time I saw it. I thought at the time it was scandalous! I was pretty young. But it was on TV, so it couldn't have been that bad!  Smiley Wink

Some Like it Hot is such an iconic classic. I also enjoyed him in so many comedies like The Out of Towners, Mr. Roberts, The Front Page. Boy he did a lot of films.

He really was an excellent actor equally adept at serious roles. I remember him in the TV movie of 12 Angry Men.

The Apartment. First time I saw this film (Penn Theater in New Castle,PA) I was a teenager and I wanted to walk into a restaurant and have someone play the piano w/my song.

Watched it the other day and I still liked it. Fred MacMurray-absolutely the best! What a crum bun.

After I saw THE APARTMENT in the movies when it first came out, I developed a huge, huge crush on Jack Lemmon.  I was in love.  I guess I was around 13 years old at the time.  I just thought that movie was so romantic, and I loved the relationship between Jack Lemmon and Shirley M.  I loved that theme music too.  I remember I had to have it on a 45rpm.

I loved him in his early movies, like MY SISTER EILEEN (in which he had a very romantic leading role) and the comedy PHFFFT, with Judy Holiday.

Why I loved him so much is sort of a mystery.  He was cute enough as a young actor, but still, most of my friends of my age had crushes on guys like Frankie Avalon, Troy Donohue, etc.  Jack Lemmon was an unlikely choice.  But as they say, the heart wants what the heart wants, or something like that.

I always liked Jack Lemmon as a actor, but after a couple of years the crush faded.

My favorite movie of his remains THE APARTMENT.
