First half was better than I expected, last half stunk. Don't think it will hold up long-term.
Was great to see Tom Hanks as host!

I can only imagine what the last half was like.....I last 15 minutes, thought it was terrible.

I just finished watching the skits I missed on EW.com and came here to see if anyone posted on it.
It was better than I expected and laughed a few times. To paraphrase Tom Hanks: eh, some things are gonna stink. It's like a normal SNL. 😊

At least they tried. I enjoyed it - loved seeing everyone. Weekend Update would have been better without the awful laugh track. Loved the tribute at the end to the producer who died from coronavirus - Hal Willner. And Che's tribute joke to his grandmother.

Liked when Tom imitated his Aussie doctor: "YOU're bloody sick"!!!!
And I laughed when Kate's chubby black and white cat made an entrance while she was doing the RBG sketch.
I'm glad they tried this. Looks like next week, back to reruns.

They tried too hard to make it work and sadly, for the most part, it didn't. During Weekend Update, that silly laughter from the "audience" was annoying and phony. I guess they never previewed it themselves or they would have never put it together like that.

I liked the Zoom meeting with the two receptionists who "only answer phones". And the RBG workout was clever. Chris Martin's rendition of "Shelter From the Storm" was excellent. Bob Dylan should be pleased.

@deepwaterdotter I had trouble understanding the audio from Kate's RBG skit --loved the cat though
did you notice that the receptionist played by Aidy ( I think ) stated that her activities included calling QVC and telling them they were doing a good job ? I could have done without the silly laughing in the news section. Surely they had not listened to it.
In some was I thought this version was more entertaining -- at least fresh . But I pray that normal can return for us all.
I thought the memorial to thier fellow worker was tasteful though sad.

The new SNL was cute. I only watched a skit or two one YouTube.
This maybe the new normal.

I usually tape the show and watch during the week. I think tonite is replay of Jesus Christ Superstar with John Legend, so I will watch SNL tomorrow with my Willie Guist & Sunday Morning shows. We are expecting heavy storms.
I'm still a SNL fan from the first show. Not 5 stars every time, but that's okay. Not much in life is! The news with Michael Che & Colin Jost is actually my fav part of the show.
Happy Easter!
