Deadly Secrets: The Lost Boys of Dozier

[ Edited ]

Watching just 15 minutes of this program made me ill.

I was channel surfing and came upon LMN.  There is a documentary on about an old Reformatory in some part of Florida, where boys were tortured and killed.  The State of Florida let this go on for years and no one was ever held accountable.  Hundreds of boys went in and never came back out.

I had to turn it.  I was not sympathetic.  I was ANGRY.  I can generally watch documentaries.  This one, I only got threw 15 minutes and turned it off.

This reminds me of the TV series Game of Silence. It has the same premise about 4 teenagers that were beat, raped and tortured in a juvenile detention center. Also, there were many that were killed by the warden. They are now adults determined to get even with the people that committed this crime against them. This is a good series but as usual it is being cancelled because it did not generate enough interest from the 18-49 demographic.

Was the program you mentioned based on true events?  This documentary is.  They are (LMN) airing it back to back tonight.  The things these boys did to get set there were unbelievable.

Unfortunately this was a very common practice in juvenile facilities and group homes.  My uncle was in one briefly and the stories he tells curls the hair on the back of my neck.
