I agree with Pearlee. I read in several places that Meredith Baxter left David Birney to be with women.

If by David J you are referring to David Janssen, then I totally concur.  I was in love with him when I was probably 12 yrs. old.  Tall, dark and handsome is my type, too!

She was married and divorced before she met David Birney.  So she tried marriage three times with men before she came out as a lesbian.

I loved him in Love is a Many Splendored thing with Donna Mills. He played Mark and she was Laura. This news kind of sonbrings it all back and breaks my heart.

Baxter is a great actress, she was outstanding in the series, Family. And done a ton of higher end TV movies.
