Sad to hear, such a fine actress.  Ironically, I recently finished watching 'Black Sails' (a pirate series) on Netflix and fell in love with Capt Flint (Toby Stephens) who I found out is one of the two sons of Dame Maggie Smith.  May she rest in eternal peace.

What an amazing woman; an incredible actress.

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie was a classic and A Room with a View was one of my favorites. Violet Crawley will long live in our hearts and memories.

May she rest in peace.

Love the theme song 'Jean' from The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie sung by Oliver, it's playing in my head right now.

She was an exquisite actress and full of class. So many fantastic rolls. Loved her in Sister Act, not so serious but fabulous!

Re: Dame Maggie Smith, 89, RIP

Whoopi Goldberg had been lobbying Maggie desperately to have her appear in Sister Act 3.

I don't know if Maggie had agreed, but it's sad that it now won't happen.
