It has become very common for even "smaller" budget movies to have at least a few foreign actors in key roles; ones we wouldn't know or recognize their names. 

 

It helps exponentially with box office ticket sales when, for example, an actor well known in Australia or Timbuktu is in the billing.  Movies sell well when one of their own "countrymen" are in a big American-produced film .... it's just good business.

Lois Chiles

Maud Adams

Rosamund Pike

Denise Richards

Jane Seymour

Barbara Bach

 

I also love the song that Carly Simon did "Nobody Does It Better"
