DAVID JANSSEN FEST THURSDAY TCM!

v1.bjs3MzE5NTY7ajsxODU5MzsxMjAwOzI0MTY7Mjk3OQ.jpeg

Wow, almost missed this.

8:00 a.m. Eastern--  "Lafayette Escradille"   Tab Hunter, David Janssen

9:45 a.m. Eastern--  "Dondi"  David Janssen, David Kory, Patti Page

11:30 a.m. Eastern--  "The Shoes of the Fisherman"   Anthony Quinn, Laurence Olivier, Oskar Werner, David Janssen

2:15 p.m. Eastern--  "Ring of Fire"  David Janssen, Joyce Taylor, Frank Gorshin

4:00 p.m. Eastern--  "Twenty Plus Two"   David Janssen, Dina Merrill, Agnes Moorehead, Brad Dexter

5:45 p.m. Eastern--   "Marooned"   Gregory Peck, Richard Crenna, David Janssen, Lee Grant, Gene Hackman, James Franciscus

I've seen nary a one, except for tiny snippets of "The Shoes of the Fisherman"!    Am more strictly a "Fugitive" monomaniac, but do think a few of DJ's movies would be fun to watch, especially "Shoes",  and "Twenty Plus Two" in which he's a private eye.   Maybe "Ring of Fire"?

@Pearlee,  I know you've seen a few of these-- anything we should look out for?

Re: DAVID JANSSEN FEST THURSDAY TCM!

Wow what a find @Oznell. Just now seeing this. Darn though that they aren't showing Warning Shot which I like.

I saw The Shoes of the Fisherman back in the 1960s and remember being bored by it but nothing else about it. That was when I was young, don't know what I'd think of it now. I saw Dondi, also many years ago, and only remember thinking at the time that it was stupid and I never wanted to see it again. Sorry my reviews aren't too helpful!

@Oznell  -thanks for the alert!!

@Pearlee - Like you, I saw Shoes of the Fisherman in the 60's and Dondi a long time ago.  Don't remember much about either movie.

Will you be cancelling your plans for the day and binge watch?Smiley Happy

My mother loved David Janssen, she thought he was very handsome.  She never missed a new episode of "The Fugitive".

@deepwaterdotter. LOL That describes me too (except I'm not your mother).

@Group 5 minus 1 Yes he was in the Green Berets which he was filming overseas when The Fugitive show ended. I remember him calling in to one of the late night talk shows (Cavett's I think) from overseas to talk about the ending of the show.

Re: DAVID JANSSEN FEST THURSDAY TCM!

Have Shoes of the Fisherman on in bedroom and was bored within 5 minutes. I was cleaning up my bathroom when I heard on TV the unmistakeable raspy voice of DJ, rushed to the TV set but missed him. Now it's over. On to the next film...

Re: DAVID JANSSEN FEST THURSDAY TCM!

Oh, bummer, @Pearlee that you missed DJ.  I'm recording "Shoes....",   "Ring of Fire" (might have something to offer, in a sort of campy way--  DJ as 'man of action'),  and  "Twenty Plus Two" (fun to see him as a private eye).

Haven't caught anything today, as I had tons of errands.  Don't know when I'll get to these flicks, but still, fun to have them in store.

I think a number of his films were "B pictures",  which I'm not necessarily against at all, they can be fun, but it's too bad he didn't have that singular role in movies that would have been as challenging as his 'Kimble' TV role....
