Connie Francis has died at the age of 87, two weeks after it was revealed that she'd been hospitalized due to "extreme pain."

Francis' close friend, Ron Roberts, who is the president of the musician's label Concetta Records, confirmed the news on Facebook early on Thursday, July 17.

Roberts wrote, "It is with a heavy heart and extreme sadness that I inform you of the passing of my dear friend Connie Francis last night." 

"I know that Connie would approve that her fans are among the first to learn of this sad news. More details will follow later," the message, which was also shared on Francis' official Facebook profile, concluded.

The news comes after Francis confirmed in a Fourth of July Facebook post that she was "feeling much better after a good night," two days after it was confirmed that she had been hospitalized.

Francis revealed that she was "back in hospital" on July 2, telling fans she'd been "undergoing tests and checks to determine the cause(s) of the extreme pain I have been experiencing."..

Sorry to hear this.  One of my favorite singers back in the day--Stupid Cupid, Who's Sorry Now, Where the Boys Are.  Thanks, Connie, for some great songs.

That's so sad.  It just is.  It's in my age group of many passing.  It's our groups turn from what we are experiencing (our family).

I have a cd of her singing Italian songs.  Beautiful. "Mama"  brings tears to my eyes.

With all the success and fame she had in her early career, it was a sad life she had in later years.  Her father controlled her entire life and the sexual assault she experienced in Westbury, NY sent her on a mental spiral.  She was finally diagnosed as PTSD and not bipolar, etc,

I enjoyed her in her younger years and was happy that one of her songs was being discovered on TIK TOK by the new generation.
