Re: Cindy Williams Has Passed Away

Those were the days of really good sit coms.  We laughed.

We were able to forget troubles for awhile.  Not today.

RIP and thanks for the good times.

Yes, I agree about sitcoms of the past. There was no social commentary, political statements, etc. The shows were humorous without being offensive.

I disagree.  All in the Family was very offensive.  My opinion......

Like so many  others, I enjoyed watching Laverne and Shirley, the entire cast worked so well together  Those who have the gift of bringing laughter to others are truly special and I always had laughs during those shows.  I am sorry to hear about Cindy Williams passing as I was when Penny Marshall passed.  They were great together and their TV show will live on to give laughter to other generations!  May Cindy be at peace with God.

Re: Cindy Williams Has Passed Away

Sitcoms from the 1970s and 1980s were filled with social and political commentary.   I think much more so than today.

Witness "All in the Family", "The Jeffersons", "Maude", "Soap"....

Laverne and Shirley was an entertaining subgenre of the sitcom relying on sight-gags, slapstick and physical humor, along the lines of I Love Lucy.

Yup.  Those shows received high ratings, so I guess the political stuff didn't bother people back then.

May they both rest in place. I loved Laverne and Shirley. I even had the board game. I had a crush on Carmine.

Eddie Mekka (Carmine) died a little over a year ago.  I think Lenny is the only one left.
