Re: Celebrity siteing in my local Safeway

@marsha-ca   He has been my celebrity crush for eons.  When I married my husband 30+ years ago so many told me that he resembled Tom Seleck. ❤️

Lol you're so predictable.

And talk about hateful, the cognitive dissonance is insane.

He's a very intelligent person

He and his family were interred in US Government run concentration camps during WW2. After the war, the family was left with nothing- no home, no business, no jobs. They lived in poverty for years as a result.

He is an outspoken advocate for equal rights and at 87 years old, is still vibrant and interesting and active.

A wonderful role model for those who have gotten the short end of the inclusion and equality stick. Live long and prosper, Mr. Takei!!!!!

OH MY! Can't resist @patbz What a hoot! Love it!

Over 30 years ago I literally ran into Shaquille O'Neal (basketball player) in the grocery store. We were grocery cart to grocery cart. At over 7 foot tall, he could not be missed. He gave me one of his dazzling smiles as I stood there like a deer in the headlights. We had just been to the latest Orlando Magic game. Spotted him a few other times in his convertible sports car around town. Always with a smile.

Thanks for posting and bringing up this memory.

Re: Celebrity siteing in my local Safeway

I saw Steve "Mongo" McMichael (former '85 Chicago Bear & new Hall of Famer) in our local Target (before they closed it & before he was diagnosed with ALS).  He lives a town over from me.

Here was this mountain of a man, holding the tiniest little dog in the main ilse. He looked so sweet. Not at like part of the Monsters of the Midway.

I'm a huge Bears fan. I was star struck. I just smiled & kind of nodded.  I don't know if he even noticed.

Now if it was Gary Fencik......

@Lakelife62 Thank you for your post Lakelife.  I've followed Mr. Takei for many years on social media and yes, he has a point of view and frequently states his beliefs, but never in a mean or condescending way.  He's a class act all around and I greatly admire him.

I've seen Mr. Takei I interviewed more than once and he was intelligent, interesting and pleasant.  Funny, too.  No hate or misery to be found.

He is really funny, I used to listen to him on Howard Stern.  Very intelligent man.  Everyone on Star Trek seems to have had issues with William Shatner.  Although Howard Stern has interviewed him as well and he is quite funny.  Growing up I really enjoyed the Star Trek TV show.  It was way ahead of its time.
