I would never want to be a defense attorney. They don't want to know if your guilty or not, they just have to give you the best defense they can. I think being a defense attorney is a soul crushing occupation.

Hi Jordan! Interesting you mentioned that, as I've often thought about it.
I imagine there are many times when they knew their client was guilty but had to defend them anyway and that would just be so difficult. How do you do that and be able to live with yourself, not to mention having to face the victim/s.

In this case, I wonder if the attorney was as wacky as the family.
A defense attorney defends the law. Guilty or not, they are obligated to be sure the constitutional rights of the accused are protected.
If Jose Baez had not been so smug, people might have been more understanding. He wrote a best selling book about the case, so he got his blood money.

Very sad situation.Casey lived with her parents who were helping to raise Caylee.I think they are carrying a lot of guilt themselves. They probably new that she was an unfit mother. That she was to immature to raise a child. They should have done more to protect poor Caylee.
As far as being a criminal defense attorney, as much as I hate it, under the law everyone is entitled to a defense. Those who are lucky to hire savvy lawyers get off!! That’s how O. J. & Robert Blake escaped justice.
I avoid reading about these cases once they’re decided because the whole thing sickens me!!

IMO, I believe the father knows Casey killed Caylee. The mother is in denial probably because she knows the child wasn't being taken care of properly. Also, I think Casey was drugging Caylee for a long time so she could go out and have fun.
