No, he had a heart attack.
@qbetzforreal Cocaine can cause heart attacks, of course an autopsy will show what happened.

His twitter feed is filled with icky, fatty food.
So many excuses: drugs, ‘genetics’, smoking, stress....
he ate cr.ap....and he even prophesied about it on Friday.
When the cause of death isn’t immediate disclosed, and especially
at this young age, it’s strongly assumed suicide or massive heart attack.
Saying he ‘died peacefully’....uh, a heart attack ain’t ‘peacefully.’
Such a shame.
Angers me so many young people dying for no reason.

Oh my so sad😥😥
I enjoyed him on Guys shows but mostly as a judge on "Guys Grocery Games".
RIP Carl

I was shocked when I saw this. So young. I enjoyed him on the ranch show with Guy. May he rest in peace.

Wow just wow. You even shame dead people. I thought I'd seen it all.

@Grouchomarx , she also shamed Chris March after his death. Anything she can use to beat us over the head with her plant based diet mantra.
I didn't realize he was so young. I recogize him mostly from Guy's Grocery Games. I think the last time he was on he beat IC Alex Guarnaschelli a couple of weeks ago.

He was scheduled to be at the Oyster Cook off in AL in November.
He was a character, big personality.
I know he will be missed by all who loved him.

Having atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease at 44.
That was/is/never will be considered 'normal'.
Carl Ruiz' life was rich with creativity & passion which was cut short.
The public should learn from this.
If not, his life was all for naught.

I don't remember him, but he probably never went to a doctor, most men won't, and at his age, he probably thought it wasn't necessary, but I think after forty, it probably is, at least to get a baseline of what condition one is in, blood tests, ekg, etc.

@mousiegirl , my husband is 71 and rarely ever goes to the doctor. I put off my 1st colonoscopy a year because I told him I wasn't getting mine until he got his (and he's 11 years older than me). At least he was concerned enough about me to get his done.
