Re: 👍🏾 Cabin In The Sky 👍🏾

Trivia tidbit about Cabin in the Sky.  The film was Vincente Minelli's first director credit.  Samuel Goldwyn gave him the film he was young and cheap.  Although MGM was spending a little money on it, (in those days) it was considered a risk to produce a movie featuring an entire black cast to "all" audiences.  Goldwyn didn't expect to make much profit outside of black theaters, let alone get a classic generation lasting hit out of the film.

It is a wonderful film with fabulously entertaining music/dance sequences.  The Duke Ellington music and dancing in the scenes at Jim Henry's nightclub are outtasite!  Ethel Waters is amazing!
