Noon Eastern TCM: "The Unsuspected"
Totally absorbing murder mystery directed by Michael Curtiz. Claude Rains is a famous radio host whose secretary is found hanging from a chandelier in his beautifully appointed house, and it's off from there...
Curtiz creates a luxe but claustral world of glamorous parties, close but treacherous relationships, society gossip, surprise twists, and best of all, plenty of sometimes catty, sometimes witty, repartee. Standouts for me are the always fascinating film noir siren, Audrey Totter, and an older (older than her "Topper" days, at least) and jaunty Constance Bennett.
But really, there are too many fun, shiny objects in this thriller to enumerate. Great lunch time movie!

Ahhhh! Claude Rains is the best!

Thanks for the heads up!
I am watching Flamingo Road, as I do "stuff". I will keep TCM on and catch The Unsuspected. I like that they have Michael Curtiz on during the month of April. He really did some powerhouse movies.

Just a little trivia, Claude Rains lived in West Chester, near where QVC is, for a few years.

I enjoyed Claude Rains as Capt Renault in Casablanca. He's called the film's comic relief and I can see why.
.Rick: How can you close me up? On what grounds?
Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
[a croupier hands Renault a pile of money]
Croupier: Your winnings, sir.
Renault: Oh, thank you very much.

I had no idea. And it is funny most of my husband's relatives live right outside Coatesville. Will have to ask them about Rains 350 acres, at the next family reunion.
Oh My! the man had quite a few wives.

@suziebee1and @ValuSkr, love having the "movie trivia"-- thanks!

Just curious, @drizzellla-- how did you like "Flamingo Road"? I've seen big chunks of it, ages ago, but never completely all the way through. Joan usually does excel in those "climbing the ladder of success" sagas....
